Hello guys:

Just wanted to share a nice review from Kareem of DJBooth.net on the M-100's:

I am also waiting for mine.
Does anyone know when they start shipping?

Val said in the other M-100 thread that the 60 days printed on the pre-order page are about correct as far as they can tell. That would bring shipping to about mid-december I guess.

Where do they ship from?

At least the VTF-100s were shipped to V-Moda in California and then on to the buyers. Might be the same for the release version.

I have questions to ask and can you people please ans. them, btw i am a head-fi noob

1) Is the comfort on m100 unbearable/a dealbreaker?
2)Will there be orange cables, the apple kind?
3)Will this sound ok with the ipod touch 5g?
4)Im looking at the amperiors, momentum and ue9000/6000 and how do the m100 compare with them?
5) Are these good with vocals because i listen mostly to pop, RnB, and rap

I can't speak to #2, but here are my thoughts on your other questions:
1) No
3) Assuming it is comparable to the Iphone 4, yes
4) M-100 has a superior overall sound signature; others are more bass heavy, M-100 bass is tighter with solid punch and accuracy; I find highs on Amperior and Momentum to be harsh, highs on UE 6000/9000 somewhat subdued, M-100 highs perfection for my ears.  IMO, mids on M-100 are superior to the other 3 with greater detail and imaging.

Seeing as your other questions are answered I can try and answer your second question.

Just to clarify are you asking if the orange cable are like apple cables for earbuds?

If that's the question, The orange cable is nothing like apple cables. Apple cables are really cheap and plasticy and I find they break and tangle way too easily. The orange cable (and every other cable that comes with the M-100's) are made of Kevlar so they are extremely durable and don't tangle due to the thickness.

Hope this helps,

  • It's not unbearable/a dealbreaker for me, but evidently it has been for others. If you work out/exercise while wearing the M-100, the earpads might become compressed a lot and your ear will probably press against the driver enclosure, which may/might not be uncomfortable to you (yesterday it was pretty painful for me)
  • Apple 3-button control cable? No. SpeakEasy cable (1-button, 1 microphone)? Yes
  • Yes I believe people have said they sound just fine out of their iPhones/iPod
  • M-100 > UE6000 (UE6000 has more forward mids) >> Amperior (I personally really didn't like the Amperior, other than the fun bass punch)
  • They're pretty good. The vocals are not up-front/in-you-face, but they are pleasant to listen to for most modern "pop/top 40" music (T-Swift sounds really good to me; her voice isn't right up-front in your face, as I said, but it's very pleasantly balanced with the drums and bass while I listened to her Fearless and Speak Now albums on the bus this morning)

Hey All
I've been reading this thread for quite some time, but not really commenting. However, I have a quick question about the M100 on amping. I noticed that the M100 ships with a smartphone control cable, and also that headphones lose the smartphone control ability when amping. Does this mean that the M100 will be driven just fine without an amp out of my Sansa Clip Zip?
Rock On
