Have the hifi m8 playing through my pair of jvc fxz200 connected to iphone 6 plus via cck and usb. You could also make out the optical in next to the usb port.

thank you very much for explaining. so there are no restrictions when using the cck and usb? spotify and the standard music player will work or is any special app required? thanks for confirming this again, I dont think i will have any further questions after that :)

if i remember correctly cck will not work for older devices before ios7. could this be right? i dont have any just curious to know.

No problem, i did however missed mentioning using the onkyo hf player app. I'll try tom to see if spotify and the music player will work via cck. I'm pretty sure i tested this previously but i've forgotten the results.

Has anyone determined which has a better DAC (spec and sound wise)? The AK240 or the M8?

It would be a shame to have to use my 240 digitally out (because there is no "amp only" option on the M8), into the CEntrance, only to lose the gains the the AK circuitry has to offer.

I only use the hifi m8 if i feel like using the hd650 or other full size cans. Otherwise, using iems, i use ak directly more often. The only reason i used the jvc's for the pic was bec it was the first thing i was able to reach to be able to test ios device and hifi m8.

I also have another branded amp to use with my ak240. Set up will be ak240 --> 2.5 bal to rsa --> rx mk 3b+ --> iem or full sized can. .with the m8 i usually use the ak120.

Depending on what i feel like using i mix n match. The m8 ( hugo and rx also ) hasn't been getting time lately due to my getting some iem's And i haven't been feeling on using dac/amps with the ak player and iems.

Also if you use sensitive IEMs with the M8 you can hear audible hiss even at the lowest gain setting and you have to pay $100 plus shipping both ways to get the IEM mod.

I only use the M8 with harder to drive cans. It is relatively pointless to use the M8 with sensitive IEMs. Considering selling them as a result ...

As a point of reference hiss is audible with Shure E500, Sony XBA-H3 and Ostry KC06.

The Shure I kinda expected because they are notoriously hiss sensitive, but the Sony not so much as they aren't really that sensitive on paper.

I have a pair of 1964 ears with Adel technology (the U-6) and should be able to report on that in 6 months time. LOL.

I actually tried the m8 with ie800 and jvc fxz200 and re400 didn't notice any hiss. Let me try this also and will include 1964ears v8 on that test.

So it's gonna be a hiss test for iems and cck out for spotify and music player on iOS device.

Iphone 6 plus spotify, music player are working via cck.

You're also getting the U6? Cool. I Signed up for one as well.

The v8 has negligible hiss at lowest gain up to 9/930 position of the vol. pass that it's audible already. I'll try the fxz200 and re400 later. Won't be able to test the ie800 anymore as I've converted it to ak240 2.5 bal.

Do note that ymmv as I'm not at all bothered by hiss if I can't hear it while music is playing.

Yep i really hope the U6 lives up to the hype. I have been looking for a relatively inexpensive travel iems with good to excellent isolation for awhile now. The U6 seems to fit the bill perfectly.

I am settling down to DX50 for daily commute with sonething like the U6.

Geek Out 100 IEM edition for business and longer term travelling hooked up to the laptop or my Xperia Z2 with UAPP plus U6.

M8 for semi mobile listening around the house with bigger cans like my HE500 and K701s (Eg listening to something like the DT250 in living roon while the girlfriend is watching Downton Abbey or whatever i am refusing to buy into, or watching sunset at the balcony).

Reference DAC/amp to sit in the study to plug the big cans into. Undecided at the moment on this last bit. I have the Pulse xfi on order but may go with an Auralic as my end game if i ever get a chance to audition them...

Audioengine B1 is amazing for this - I am working on a review, delayed by my car accident. You must buy one if you have an SPDIF M8!

But Audioengine B1 is not compact and need to be used with Power Supply only (((
I need something compact and with\without battery.
Is it fantastic dreams? ))
For example, a lot of gadgets have bluetooth reciever inside.
But Centrance M8 not ((((
Sorry 4 my bad English )

I'm missing something...got the otg cable for my HTC one, downloaded usb music player, connected to CEntrance M8; nada. Have an iPad 3, cck, broken so waiting for a new one to arrive. Think I made a mistake buying this, my fault, of course, didn't research enough, quick purchase on Massdrop. I read it was compatible with i devices and Android, figured how hard could it be to set up. Seems you need an A & K to actually use it. Oh well...

Turn the m8 on before connecting the USB cable to the phone and then start USB player pro, you should have a splash screen telling you the unit is connected and ready to play. If you have uapp already running before the connection, be sure to turn it off using the app manager and then u can start it again
