My D7100 arrives tomorrow. While waiting, I have decided to do a thorough compare of my hp inventory, as I will definitely not be keeping them all. Right now the SRH940 and K550 are on the short list for the chopping block, maybe the D2000 and MDR7520 as well.

A thorough compare of this new denon to them other headphones you mention would be great.

We're waiting......!!

Did anyone notice on the official Denon website the pictures of the D7100 don't have brown stitching or the Red/Silver colored connectors on the bottom? (Compared to the pre-production sample)

So which one of these is the final version? I'm assuming the one on Denon's official website...but I could be wrong?

Not sure, but on the subject of stitching, I love the white on the D600 earpads; gives it a feel of quality.

Me likey. They (The 7100's) are way out of my price range, but I like the style of the headphones - other than how they look on your head, I don't see how people could dislike their new design. Black and White for the D600's is pure class.

Some out of the box impressions of the build.

They're somewhat smaller than I was expecting. Extremely comfortable but I can tell they're going to be hot here in Arizona. The pads have a very plush feel and are relatively compact.

The long cable is terminated with a 1/4 jack rather than using a screw on adapter like the D5000. The short cable is much thinner, plastic and flimsier feeling but it's a nice option to have.

The jacks on the bottom do have red and white markings around them. There is brown stitching on the pads and headband but it's extremely subtle compared to the prototypes.

One of the big questions about these is whether or not they're going to isolate or be like the old models that were really semi open. The answer is that they definitely isolate better than the D5000. It seems these are truly sealed headphones and with a good seal they seem to isolate slightly better than the AKG K550.

I find the headband design works well for me but playing with it a little I can definitely see how it might present fit problems for some people.

I personally like the looks of these but the plastic on the headband does kind of detract from the feeling of luxury that you'd expect at this price point.

I'm very glad they went with detachable cables this time around. The connection to the headphone is a 1/8 mono connector but they have a small bit of plastic around the connector that makes it so that just any 1/8 mono connector isn't going to fit. It's kinda like the problem the first generation iphone had with its headphone connector. This is really sucky as I was hoping to be able to piece together a balanced cable to use with my Mjolnir that's arriving tomorrow.

The stand is nice but the carrying bag seems kinda pointless although I guess I would be more inclined to travel with these than I would have with the older models.

I'll post some very preliminary, pre-burnin, sound impressions shortly.
