MSB Analog DAC? (Review p3)

No - that one is next on the list. Not easy to come by for a demo/loan though and not particularly looking to bury 10k Euro in something I've not heard...

I might be getting a home demo unit. Happy to bring it to your setup for a session :)

The best idea of the month!! Please PM me when you know more details.

P.S.: I will however have the little brother, Total DAC A1 here, later this month. Perhaps I should start a DAC-off list.

Will do. They have a 14 day return/trial period which, as you say, is entirely necessary at that cost. Likely to be the end of August however as my schedule until then doesn't allow much free time.

Also been looking at the CAD 1543. Where did you source the MSB in the UK?

Great review Negura. I have to say a lot of what you are hearing is the Quad USB module. The MSB with the old USB is less resolving than the Yggy in terms of spatial cues. Same traits re richness, blacker background, bass quality and tonality are there. Overall I am using the MSB more than the Yggy nowadays. I can't wait to get my hands on the Quad USB!

Great review, Razvan! It confirms my findings overall.

Told you guys that this quad usb made a huge difference :)) . Will also do a review soon! If my memory serves right, with the quad usb input it is in the same league now as with the older DAC IV Platinum .

Oh my, there's just someone who always gets to play with all of the good stuffs.
Awesome review btw. Great read.
I actually got up to listen to yggy at A2A Sydney. In that session, save for price I don't think yggy bettered the normal USB with Power Base overall, cant pinpoint other characteristics for sure since I cant A/B but two thing is at that length of operation yggy still dont have the Analog's 3D stage and vocals dont pop as much which I noticed immediately, but perhaps the environment isn't quite optimal, says them yggy only have a week of up time.

Cant wait for my quad to arrive in a few weeks

I did listen to both Yggy and MSB out of my PowerInspired AG500 regen. The effect is similar with both. It improves background darkness with both, and perhaps the detail has some improved contrast, it sounds faster, but it also sounds thinner, a bit brighter and the stage height collapses. I prefer both out of the mains directly after all.

The Uptone Audio Regen isn't a power regenerator http://uptoneaudio.com/products/usb-regen

I have 2 similar things : Schiit Wyrd and SOTM TX-USBexp. Both increase the sound quality by quite a lot with Analog Dac too. After listening with them , I am not sure I would want to go to normal computer usb. Review coming soon!

Ah yes - bit strange they call it a regen... I have the Schiit Wyrd and a SOTM network streamer, which includes their USB tech. Similar things. They do contribute to both Yggy and MSB.

Hello.  I've been looking/lusting over this for a while and discovered this thread so I'll be lurking about for a while.

I've posted my impressions here: http://www.head-fi.org/products/msb-analog/reviews/13668

Guys, guess what I have right besides me. That's right, a schiit yggdrasil. After the initial listening, I must say that negura is pretty spot on with his review.

While Yggy is an excellent DAC, MSB with the quad usb input seems to be in a completely different league.  And I have the stock power supply...

Full review and comparison coming soon.
