Don't worry, the input impedance of your amp is usually over 10K ohm, a 4v (actually it most likely is +2v ~ -2v swing) input won't do any harm at all.

Thanks, the input impedance of my amp is 65kohm, so is that ok?

So,  I have not had the channel imbalance problem, and my 901 plus Minibox card is working/sounding fine.....   I am on Kernel 3.0 and UI 1.085 v3....   Should I upgrade my firmware?  Why or why not?  Defend your answer and show all 'work' in the margins..

They are in the same league with minor differences. However, 901 is more dynamic, alive and has better detail articulation. Ak240 has a bit laid back presentation with a mellow sound. Ak240 has thinner notes. 901 has better balance on overall spectrum. For clinical listening go with 901, for a relaxing listening then go with 240. In my opinion, a well trained and experienced ear would choose 901 regarding sound quality.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around mate. Clinical listening would be the ak240

The 901s was announced during Hifiman's presentation yesterday (together with other awesome stuff, a flaghship headphone and a flagship CIEM in partnership with Unique Melody).
 
EDIT: apparently it is metal. Owners of 901 can upgrade for 999 Yuan which is roughly 160 USD.
 
There is some optimization of the analog circuits that should improve SQ further apparently.
 
Another important piece of news is that Hifiman is creating a second hand trade platform : 51huanhuan.com

Is it plastic? Looks metallic. Guess looks can be deceiving..

I'm guessing the new minibox es will work on it?

I like the new look. Did they get rid of the vintage/hd switch?
 
Even if there is a slight improvement in sound that's awesome given that the HM901 was being talked about as the SQ champ among DAPs
