HM-901

Your card has to be Fat32 to upgrade I think. You do not unzip. You press start and home and then release start when the logo appears, and release home when upgrade starts.

That's what I've tried so far, with no luck. I had two old 1GB cards laying around (hey, they cost $50 each back in the day, I'm keeping them!) and I tried both, freshly formatted to FAT32, no unzip.... I'll have to keep trying.

Try to re-download the update.zip file again. It may be corrupted / incomplete.

Actually, I have tried but downloading the file entirely from their server is yet another challenge. Anyway......was just looking for the fix of auto power off...

The new beta firmware fixed the auto power off problem already.

I'm using the link on this page http://hifiman.com/Blog/ - is there anywhere else I should look?

Normally I download from their BBS website. For this case it's here:

There are two valid links for the beta 2.002 firmware:

Hi all,

I used the following link,

https://head-direct.com/News/?act=detail&id=375

If you're using a Mac make sure to go to safari preferences and turn off the auto-open (auto-unzip) option in the general tab of preferences

I also had to reformat my card from exFat to Fat using the disk utility.

Then it finally worked for me, just make sure you don't release the home button until the update starts.

I was one of those people getting an "update interrupted" message so this may not apply given another problem

Hope this helps,
Daniel

I need an advice from the owners of Hifiman RE-600 iems who use them in a balance mode (with a balance amp of course) with Hifiman HM-901; or a piece of advice from the owners of any balanced iems who use them in a balance mode (with a balance amp of course) with Hifiman HM-901:

- Is it worth buying Hifiman RE-600 to use them in a balance mode (with a balance amp of course) with Hifiman HM-901 if I have Westone W-60 and use them in a normal mode with Hifiman HM-901 with iem amp?
My point is I love the sound of my Westone W-60 (in a normal mode) very much and I am afraid that I will not have a wow effect with Hifiman RE-600 even if used in balanced mode (with balance amp).

just your opinion.
thank you

I have a question. I'm currently using HM-901 with classic and minibox cards with HD650. For most of my music I prefer the minibox over the classic due to a more airy and expansive soundstage. If I were to upgrade to a balanced card, what kind of improvements should I expect? Please note that I won't be using HM-901 in balanced mode because my HD650 are single ended. Thanks for your help.

I prefer the Minibox to the balanced, so to me it would be a downgrade.

Thank you. I'm having a lot of fun comparing HM-802 and HM-901 with minibox. It's so difficult to decide which one to keep. I just love the bass of HM-802 but HM-901 wins hands down in terms of resolution and I feel like it also has a more airy soundstage.

Still hearing very little about the Dock, even though it's out world wide.
One thing that concerns me is the high output voltage of 3 volts
I thought most pre amps line inputs are expecting about 2?
Won't that overload most amps?
