I managed to get him interested in V-Moda. At least that's a start. In fact, I was heavily considering a Beats headphone and was doing extensive research which led me here and into the steel-flex arms of my now beloved V-80s. Journey of a thousand miles, right?

Those V-80's sure do look way more sexier than the Beats. Flashy looks and good SQ, something not achieved very often lately.

I just can't respect form over function, especially in this hobby. The best brands in this hobby are the quietest of all and rarely advertise outside the niche area of the market. Brands like Monster need to trick the mainstream consumers into thinking that they are the best, while those who lurk in the shadows like JH, Beyerdynamic, AKG, Shure and so on can sell their stuff to the professional users and those of us in this niche side of the headphone market without resorting to smoke and mirrors.

Funny thing is that they advertise their overpriced beats so badly and their turbines are like... not so known. I asked people whether they knew about the turbines, and most of them said "no". They are the good part of monster after all, though. Well, true, the underrated is always the best.

I entered a Chamber where they Beat my Soul with beautiful, flashy mediocrity. The LED lights danced along with the bOOM of each strike until the batteries died. Then the bOOMING in the Chamber ceased and the Beat-ing swiftly ended as I bled my True Blood in a V down my spine. It was Ludacris! May (insert deity here) have mercy on my Soul (and ears).

For sure, I hear nothing but excellent things about Turbines. It's other celebrity lines they produce.

Spidernahn, I just checked out the v80s. Out of everyone else's recommended headphones not on my list, they are the only ones I think look fashionable. The white ones look nice man, with the black shield. Is there something similar to them that also have the LED lights that light up to the beat of the music like the chambers? If so, I'm practically sold.

fashion?? Buy fake beats by dre then look cool in public.  When you want to listen to good music, take an audio cord from your ipod and plug it into a potato.  The potato will likely give you better sound than the fakes or reals.  My only complaint on the potato is the highs can be a bit screechy.  The bass is amazing especially when banged numerous times on a hard object.

Just tried A/B with my fake tours, it's definitely potato FTW!

I think the potato truly proves that burn-ins are real.  I mean.  After I burned in my potato in the microwave for 25 minutes,  I could definitely hear an audible change in the higher frequency range.

I have herd fake beats studios that sounded better than the real ones(they were better but still not good)

funny story.  I actually knowingly purchased a fake pair of beats by dre tour.  I plugged them in and was like "Nuh-uh". Everything was perfect.  the lows punchy, huge sub-bass, the highs were crystal clear, the mids were slightly distant.  I couldn't believe such a cheap tin-foil diaphragm could produce such a nice sound.(LOL I broke them open because they quit working one day.  they were neo magnets but the tin foil was a shocker... still sounded great!  But the tin-foil isnt able to produce a tight response.

LOL this thread just got more interesting.... I don't doubt that fake Beats can have better sound than real Beats... since I think Beats' horrible SQ is impossible to beat
