We just got through watching it. The Huayra piece makes me want one... really bad. Epic, epic, car.

Hmmm....the Atom V8 is 863hp/tonne, while the Veyron SS is 626hp/tonne.
I'm guessing it comes down to downforce and aerodynamics. Who knows, maybe this'll prompt the Ariel engineers to improve on those aspects, just to get back.
Likely not, they've not made any new V8 cars in a couple years. They've gone to all 4cyl + forced induction designs. The problem is getting that horsepower to the ground and that's a tall order with such a light car. Trust me, after driving a 1050whp Ford GT (816bhp /ton), I can understand the dilemma. If that car didn't have aftermarket traction control, it would just roast its tires at half throttle in 1st and 2nd gears.

I saw something similar with a 2cyl engine, in the flesh a few years ago at a car/bike show. Being all electric is a twist, though.
The police called, the guy I hit with a bottle wanted to press charges, but the DA won't prosecute because the owner's son's life was in danger and the perp has a violent history. Also asked if I could come in and give a sworn statement. It seems he's crazy, but not enough to go to a psch facility. Incoming suit... :confused_face: Time to call "the Litigator". Oh, I wasn't being entirely serious about the car thing, but I doubt petrol-powered cars will be used as often, more as recreation (with ungodly fuel prices).
With electric in the state it is, and hydrogen looking too cumbersome to transport, I think there will be a public transport phase before we come up with another long term solution for the future.
In the US at least any widespread expansion of public transport might as well be an electric or hydrogen based system. No point in building an expensive infrastructure that'll be dated in 30 years.
