Nice! I like the touch of color on the flowers & the door!

What kind of flower bushes are those - are they roses or something else? The shape doesn't look quite like a rose bush?

That was with my wife's little Leica X2, it was rather dark too, I had to use ISO 1600. It takes a good picture. Not sure about the bushes, but the blooms are actually yellow, the red is me messing with PS. I dropped by the photog place where I usually shop and they had a Leica M9 for sale on consignment; 9/10 condition (almost a year left on the warranty), Voigtlander 35 & 75mm lenses, Luigi half-case, strap, bag, fistful of 16 & 32GB memory cards, for $5500, but I offered 4800 cash and they took it. All that together looks like it's 8000 new, so I think I did okay. It's more camera than I was looking for, but it should do me for quite some time.

Which car is that?

A Koenigsegg CCX that I had factory refreshed and then upgraded to within an inch of its Swedish life.

If my memory serves me correctly, Magick bought a CCX that was upgraded to CCXR trim. So, in a way, you're both correct.

Magick, I think there was a really crappy kid's movie recently about the Weiner Dog Nationals.

Oh God, don't mention anything about Wiener, that's all I've heard lately is "Wiener did this, Wiener showed that, Wiener won't pull out (of the election)". The news has been nothing but a NY sausage fest lately. Put it back in your pants and never take it out again dude, no joking.

Yeah, that's the CCX (now the second with a visible CF body and the only one in LHD), proof that car companies will do almost anything if you pay them. 973 whp, 775 lb/ft, with a stick. Still a single clutch system, but it doesn't seem to have issues and operates well (it is a little heavier than I expected, but not Ford GT levels of weight). I was a little surprised that it wasn't set up when it arrived, it understeered badly, but the car came with a very concise manual (seriously, you could almost build the car with the info provided), so we adjusted the damping and that fixed it. So far I really like it. "Of course you like it!" Well no, I was actually bracing for the worst but it drives really well. It's not overly polished, like a 458, but it's a load of fun and will keep you awake.

In somewhat related news, Ben Chan, the idiot mod who had me banned from Luxury4play (for saying "having money doesn't mean you have taste" *), apparently has totalled an MP4-12C into a storage locker at high speed, after losing control of the car on the highway. No, he wasn't hurt in the wreck, but that McLaren is a write-off, ouch. He was also the same person who said the Koenigsegg Agera R is a "hunk of s**t". In that instance, he'd cried that the car had a small scratch after letting it sit on display at a Vegas car show before taking delivery (see, there's a reason you don't do silly crap like that, let the manufacturers take the risk), and whined that the car handled poorly, so he immediately turned around and sold it and then badmouthed the company. I guess he wasn't smart enough to read the farking manual. If he can't handle something as easy to drive as the MP4 (which almost drives itself) then he has no business passing judgement on any sports car, perhaps next time he'll leave the TC and ESC on? While my situation Koenigsegg wasn't as smooth as silk, they did make things right, and DID go above and beyond when I told them I wasn't happy (I got some high-dollar swag and free air delivery). It goes to show that being wealthy (Chan's daddy is rich, he isn't) doesn't mean you have any class, either.

Edit: I forgot, the CCX hits 0-60mph in 2.9s, but I might be able to shave a tiny bit more after I get accustomed to its clutch.

He just proved what you said Magick. Being rich doesn't ensure you wont dress up a McLaren in hideous graffiti as above.

Being rich wont give him driving abilities but I am sure its the McLaren,s fault that it crashed afterall

After reading his rant, he should get a box pack supercar.

Custom stuff will always cost more and have delays, that,s why its called custom.

Anyone can walk in and buy a Ferrari/Lamborghini etc etc but something rare will take time and have delays especially if its from a different environment and Kosegg is a

boutique manufacturer. For chrissake he didn't even pay in full and he wants VIP treatment as technically the car doesn't even belong to him
eek.gif

They will of course need homologs/rego/ heck I have seen cars getting different headlamp bulbs just because they were from overseas and god knows

what else needs to be changed to land a car properly in Australia.

Here,s his Panamera. Draw your own conclusions.

Come on, he decides to buy a 3M bucks car and he doesn't even fly (using his private jet) to the factory before he places his order? Then he came on that stupid forum to destroy a small company's reputation based on his impression of a car that he didn't even own at the time?

Sorry but this kind of behavior actually makes me wish for the end of humanity.

EDIT: And go read hist rant on the Agera. The best line being : "this (the agera) feels like a 400K car"

I've always dreamed to found a hypercar company à la Pagani, but those stories freak me out. Does anyone here can imagine what it must be like to have to lick such a guy's boots? Everyday?

Nice bit of driving, that. Were charges laid?

So you work your guts out get into the mesopheric income bracket, only to find that while limited in population it still has a proportionate number of walking fecal excretion factories. What's a trillionaire to do?
biggrin.gif

Have you approached the insurance company to purchase the wreck for parts?  I would (and id send him that wrecked door panel with the graphics framed up and ready for wall mounting

LOL! I like how you think!!

I've really never understood cliques that are extremely hostile to "outsiders" - I guess xenophobes are simply frightened - so frightened that they need to aggressively protect their "turf" like an outraged Fiddler crab.

It was actually a rental, because his Veyron broke down. Priceless.

I joined so I could talk with owners of some supercars and get their impressions of the different ones (I was trying to decide between the MP4 Spider and the 458 Spider). There are some decent guys on there, Club Ferrari is particularly cool to hang out with (and Ben hates them), but unfortunately they're significantly overshadowed by the trust fund brats.

Umm, well, I bought my CCX without seeing it first... :xf_eek: Does it drive like a $1.7M car? Well, I don't know how to answer that, because I don't see it as a net loss (since they hold their value and it isn't money that's simply disappeared). I like it more than the Veyron I tested, and it's quirky, I like quirky. Throttle response is epic, I've never driven a turbocharged car before that's so quick to build revs at the low end. Maybe it's the way it handles valve timing, as I've heard some mention, but in many ways it performs like a NA car, and that's extraordinary. Also the ECU came from the factory unlocked, which is very surprising (and welcome). It's designed to run on Michelin Sport Cup and Super Sport tires, which are far and away my favorites. The gearbox is superb. It's comfortable, rides smoothly, and corners like a slotcar. The engine sound is really something, but I'm glad I got the additional cabin damping, it doesn't seem as loud inside as the ones I've seen in videos. We ran it through a local tunnel that's about 1/2 mile long and the roar was fantastic, the people behind us were giving us the thumbs-up as we exited it. :) Oh, and the look... If a supercar can be considered understated, this one is. The raw CF, w/ badge delete (it doesn't say CCX or CCXR anywhere on it), is very clean and gives it a "serious business" look. There are so many things the car has going for it, it's impressed me quite a bit so far.

He was charged with reckless driving, which in Texas is a class 2 misdemeanor and means you get your license suspended pending a hearing. It's the toughest RD penalty in the USA, the same as a 1st time DUI.

Yeah, like certain people on this forum who are angry and indignant that someone doesn't like their funky-looking, mid range performance, $5500 headphones. If I'm going to lay out that much cabbage for a set of cans, they'd better hit all the checkboxes, not just a few. However, they're weird and retro, and that's bound to earn them some hipster cred too. Hahaha

It was also mentioned that SR-009s + amp are more than an Abyss rig, and that's not actually correct. The Woo GES is $1500, add that to the current PJ pricing of $3500 (holy crap, have they really dropped that much?!), and you have a bundle cost of 5Gs. I know, that's not cheap, but for the SQ, there's likely not a better deal in high-end audio. Heck, you could get a Woo WEE for $500 (and use any stereo amp you already own), I have one and it's actually very nice, and you'd be at $4k. If you really want to "cheap out", get a used SRD-7 Pro off Fleabay for $100. That's $3600... crazy.

Hmm.There sure do seem to be some apologists hereabouts, one would think they were shareholders (then again at 5.5K perhaps they are). There are a lot of options out there if you look at that kind of money as a pool. The ESP 950 with a few mods and a killer amp comes to mind.

So far I have yet to see anything in print from anyone who says they absolutely love that headphone. And for that price I'd better be head over heels cant live without it, gone baby.

I was actually very surprised when I read some of the reviews from people with much more experience with TOTL 'phones than I have, and what they said matched what I was thinking during my short audition of the Abyss. I had never heard anything that was so very good in some parts and yet sounded "weird" in other parts. I had really not read much about it until after I listened (I had not even read Tyll's review) and I'm really glad I got to hear it at the same time that I could hear the Audeze, Stax, HD800 and several others. I figured I was just not used to hearing something in this high stratum - and that could still be the case - but I walked away thinking it wasn't the best 'phones I heard that day. My confusion after hearing the Abyss matched almost exactly what I later read in the reviews. It made me think maybe my ears are not quite as bad as I thought! :p

can you use an SRD 7 with the newer stax's? Like the SR207,307,407 and 507?

As long as it's pro bias, yes.

Any of you have ideas of the best dirt cheap used autos you can get under 5k?

Yes! Try a municipal auction, where they sell off cars that have been seized and impounded, some great deals there.

5K what? Are you in the USA or are we talking about gold-pressed latinum?

For less than $5K USD, your are looking at a car that is at least 10 years old and/or well over 100K miles. Unless you know what you are doing, I would stay away from cars with bad titles (salvage, repo, etc) and cars that have belonged to a backyard mechanic who's favorite tools are duct tape and twine. What are your requirements: Small, large, 2/4 doors, people hauler, junk hauler, good gas mileage, auto/stick, etc?
