SoundMagic PL11 Review

You're welcome doc. But basically at its price, it is targeted at a different sector of people. Mainly those that like mainstream music like Eminem and Lil' Wayne which I do a lot. For those music the muddy bass is more preferable at times(more than not) as compared to the full bass that audiophile studio headphones produce. This difference needs to be noted to readers.

Sorry to hear that. Everyone has sonic standards and this review is mainly going to be seen by budget minded people probably comming from ibuds. Of course also note that when you have a higer model to compare with, the higher one will get your choice as it is sometimes better. I will be getting TF10s when they fall back to $100 so its not a big deal or anything

Yeah that's fine bowei006, they just weren't for me, I do think many others will enjoy them. For the money they're still well worth it. I think both models arriving at the same time took away some of their fame for me. For the price I was still mighty impressed with the mids / highs. I may have had a different view on the bass if only the PL11 arrived alone.

Cheers!

^ That's what I meant. :) It's like getting a Suped up Corvette and then a Lamborghini. You would want to drive the lamborghini. Well bad example but you get what I mean. :)

Nice review boweii!

Thank you. I try to encompass a large range of topics and questions anybody might ever have on the PL11's. How was the review in all honesty though? Any points I should fix. Was I too biased? I tried to remove biases and bring out all it's bad points and also praise it's good points at the same time. The worst thing anybody could do is read a biased review.

And remember, this is recommended for those that don't want to spend too much money and would prefer muddy over thin. Comparing this to a SoundMagic upper cousin or an even more expensive Earbud will of course be un productive :) Like the other guy if you read the thread. Buying both the PL21 and PL11's. The PL11's will of course not be a choice as...you already have the higher seried brother.

I can't say my opinion as obviously never heard these earphones, however it seems to be very honest. The only thing I'm not sure about is the way you say it is muddy as muddy to me seems like your saying it is not very detailed and very messy when i think you are trying to say it is thick, well bodied and coloured. Obviously their is no point comparing to a more expensive earphone or the same companies upgrade as the outcome is going to be obvious. Like when my mono prices come they are not going to be a patch on for example my dba-02s.

Thank you.
By muddy I mean the bass is boomy, it lacks detail that an audiophile would want, it is messy, and thick. Thats what most take muddy to mean and you got it .

Yeh that how I use it it was just your context of how you use it confused me?

Nah it's fine dw about it :) if you can have a look in my signature then I wouldn't mind you having a look at my super fi 3 review I just done! Debating whether to make thread by their old so I don't think I will. I do say quite a bit bad about them though.... I dunno if to focus more in its strong points but the. It was originally a $130 earphone :L

Oh sorry, didn't really fully notice this comment. But I did respond to you by coincidence as I saw the review in the review panel 4 weeks ago :)

MP8320 is a king :) for $8..but only after burn in. It is not as fun as the PL11's for mainstream music..but it is a earbud audiophiles would like to demo :)

I loved my PL11's but I only used them as my snowboarding headphones. They were thrashed around, frozen, dropped, dragged along, and soaked with water. After about 3-4 seasons of heavy abuse, one side died out haha. This is probably because I only snowboard with one ear in (safety reasons) and have the other ear bud hanging inside my jacket

I was hoping to find a similarly priced alternative (decent sounding, high quantity of bass) but I might just get another PL11...

MH1C

Make sure it is the correct one. Some stores label it incorrectly. If it has the green Sony Ericson logo on it, then its wrong.

Depending on what player you have, it may cause problems with your phone. On my 4S, on car bumps, the MH1C will send signals to my phone causing clicks and blips of sound. Using an ext amp fixed this.
