3 questions about Sony xperia Z (the smartphone, not the ultra, not the tablet and not the z1) and Fiio E17 (500mA)

  • does it work with Fiio E17 without hub? (the only video I found was using hub but there was a floppy disk connected too xD http://www.head-fi.org/t/595071/android-phones-and-usb-dacs/1725#post_9177284 )
  • uarp is required or it works with all players?
  • 24bits only with uarp, right?

1. Apparently, the Xperia Z can work with the FiiO E17 without a hub.

2. It works with all players.

3. Yes, the USB Audio Recorder PRO app can play and output 24-bit audio to an external USB DAC.

Sort of :-) What's really missing from Resonnessence Labs is a branded app that would enable native DSD playback on Android. Otherwise there are better PCM-only DACs out there... :-)

Hopefully, we will have DSD playback on Android.

USB3 is compatible with the old micro USB2 standard, so no need for a new otg cable.
I use my old micro USB.
This will work just fine.

Hey,

What are some good micro USB to USB Type A female OTG cables?

I know there are a million of them on ebay but I dont want to buy something horrible.

Thanks..
Scott

I wish my Note 2 would work with my Nuforce uDAC-2. I don't understand why android does not support this, is there any legitimate reason stopping Google from enabling full support for USB audio? We tried to get them to enable it in Jellybean but they were either stupid and didn't get it or they just simply screwed us? :(

If you are sick of the lack of full native USB Audio support in Android, please flood them with requests about it.

https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list

Click new issue and enter the issue.  Under template, choose "Feature Request" because, as I learned first hand, they simply close the request to fix this if you select bug/defect.

Thanks and maybe this will help shake something out!
