What hard drive did you find for it at 240gb? I have the adapter that came from Korea that was being sold a couple of years ago to keep the HD profile the same as the original (works perfect but was expensive).

I used the MK2431GAH, but you need to read up on the specific modified bootloader for Rockbox so that Rockbox is able to recognise the 240gb hdd.

Download the modified bootloader first on the the current hdd, flash the bootloader before changing to the 240 hdd.

Now that iRiver took a shot at the DX100 and missed gravely, who's next? If Ibasso made a non-android* version with physical buttons and a simple interface like the C4, I'd be willing to give it a shot... There must be somebody out there seeing the DX100 as the reigning king of one-box portable hifi and thinking they can do better.

Oh, and dear Hifiman - please set this as the default wallpaper on all your workstations:

*(Please note that I'm wearing one of my several Android tshirts as I type this.)

The 901 ? Do you mean that ugly looking, overpriced, 80's UI piece of plastic ? Well it better sound like a 200k sound system if it wants to compete. Because if I cary that in the streets, people will be throwing rocks at me.

Well to be fair the DX100 isn't exactly an iPod Shuffle to look at either...

I'm more concerned about them paying attention to hiss, output impedance and coloration this time.

You're in China! You have the advantage of actually getting your hands on the HM-901 before anyone else in the rest of the world (officially at least, not talking about grey/black market smuggling HM901s out of China).

Fang told me back in October at least that the prototype HM-901 I tried, would have a sturdier construction that what I felt at the show festival. I don't know if this proposal was actually delivered in the final production model.

Try this on erji.net hifiman zone.

There has been like several impressions and pictures from the first batches. To me, the player looks acceptable. I would say it's much more portable with much better looking than 801.

The sound is between dx100 and 801 if I understood the impressions clearly.
But it's officially the slowest production efficiency ever! They started to advertise it in May last year if I am not wrong.

they are both thick bricks, and last I check in general people here never care about Uis, HELL one of the most lauded player here have no GUI at all

It may be lauded by many, but to me the lack of a GUI, and the fact that it only plays wav files (What?  Really?  Wav files?  ONLY wav files?  Just, What? ) makes it absolutely USELESS to me.  A paperweight, and an expensive one at that.
