Nothing wrong with owning multiple cars, why should there be something wrong with owning multiple rigs?

Who said there wasn't anything wrong with having multiple cars :p

When I was young and racing on weekends I still made sure that the car could do everything else as well.  Just like in audio I'd rather have one great $60K car than three $20K cars... just saying.  It's especially dumb when people are bankrupting themselves to over reach on their hobby.  Now if you are making money hand over fist and no debt whether it be a mortgage, car or student loan... go nuts.  I still have a little under a decade left on my mortgage and would rather clear it to minimize interest, interest being money you never see again that you could have spent on that car or audio instead of handing it to the bank, than have several cars or stereo rigs.

Using DG as an example.  She has $7000 in headphones and another $2400 in amps.  Could have a 009/BHSE rig and $500 in hand instead... just saying.

Imo, there should be no argument here. Everyone has their own preferences, and different ways to enjoy things. It's like having a work truck, a daily driver, and a sports car. Nothing wrong with owning multiple cars, why should there be something wrong with owning multiple rigs? Arguing against this point by saying one should get the rig he/she likes most is the analogous to, you should've just bought your favourite car with the money you spent on the three different cars. Some people do this, some people don't. Don't try to project your own preferences and priorities on to others.

Also, by saying there is no such thing as perfection so one should not chase it, would actually support having multiple rigs rather than one rig that is always subject to chasing for perfection....

This is sooooo right.  Collectors must be crazy as well.  Why justify a collector just because he's collecting.  Regardless, they'er collecting multiple items of the same thing.  Heck, might as well just have 1 TV in the house.  I know, some do.  However, must don't.  To each is own.

Collecting, even for the rich, is potentially harmful.

This discussion is not kool and it's pointless :)
We have different preferences, different tastes and different ways to think. Don't judge others just because they're different. :)

When some are trying to impose their priorities on others because the others are not good in there eyes it's kind of like... judging. Or saying that people are dumb if they're getting loans to get gear :)

How does someone impose anything on a forum?  No one here can force anyone to do anything or remove any of their rights.  In the end its just an opinion and some advice.  Up to the individual what they do with it.
