I actually bought the exact same player in Japan, cost me quite some money though. Should have opted for a bigger memory size, 16GB seems hardly enough... Thinking about selling it away lol.

Its clean, open and now less digital than the Z, but I had little time with it, so maybe later will update you, but the Tube like sound of the TTVJ slim with the SONY Z is more neutral than warm with the W4, but I can tell you I am impressed (probably till I get my DX100) ...

Thank you, nice to know it pairs well with the Z from your initial impression. look forward to a later update as I am looking at getting the TTVJ slim also once I sell my Ibasso PB1 & DB1.

Got to be 64gb on a dap like this, especially when they are anti expandable memory with a SD card slot. Why Sony bother still with 8 & 16gb I am not really sure

There are people out there who buy these wifi players just so they can use Pandora/Slacker/Spotify type apps. I know many people who bought 8GB Touches for that reason.

Thanks for enlightening me, I am one of those who still uses it in the traditional method of ripping my cd collection on to my Walkman.

I am old before my time and only still in my thirties!

What's wrong with that, for me that is the best way to ensure I am getting the best out of my collection. No stupid  and dull mp3 or AAC, yes for me lossless makes (and always ) a difference .
It is always better to have any DAP that plays flac/lossless (combined with a good IEM/Headphone), than to have the best DAP with lossy tracks. Even when using my SONY PlayStation 1 (SCPH 1001) to listen to my CD collection (with my O2 amp and HE500) I  enjoy listing more.......  maybe placebo, don't know!

Been away for quite some time and finally after a long return i am quite shocked at the comparisons being made with the NW-Z1000 against the DX100. Haha i expected the walkman's closest competitor to be the cowon but well i guess its a compliment to sony :)

I have a confession... I just bought a Z-Series 32gb from Canada... there I said it (feels like he's at a local AA meeting)

total cost for everything was £265 inc shipping to UK... should arrive in 10-14days (no volume cap for me)

Absolutely nothing, I only use WAV files now day's, even more noticeable when moving up the equipment ladder. Tried WMA & AAC (best quality) for a long time but was just kidding myself to get more music on to the Walkmans memory.

It goes to show if Sony are still doing 8 & 16gb in their premium Z series rather than globally make available the 64gb for those bigger music files then Sony are not catering for that global minority who want the best quality possible and are sacrificed for the mass who are happy with Spotify quality mp3 files.

If I do eventually wilt and pay through the nose for the Japanese Z it will be complimented with no less than WAV only files like my X currently does.

The more I think about it if Sony are not going to rush to raise the bar with internal memory they have really got to start including expandable memory as really there is no excuse for them not to and would also be a big advantage over the ipod for Sony if they did.

One day Sony will awake from their Austin Powers coma like state of cryogenic freezing process done by Dr Evil (Apple) and get their mojo back that they had in the late eighties to late nineties.
Yeah BABY!
