TDK BA200 Thread

I think resistance changes sound signature (from what I see in MRO's blog)

but changing wires really makes little difference in resistance, so I don't think much audible changes can be heard IMO

Mine failed a few days ago, and the same thing... I cannot hear from the left side.

TDK (or should I say Imation) is efficient and changed a new cable for me immediately.

Nice service I feel, though I am not sure about other countries.

Guess I should consider a reshell when the warranty period is over.

My BA200 left side failed last weeks, a few days before the 1yr warranty was up.
It was used without the extension with my Sony MW600 and Samsung HS3000 stereo bluetooth for almost a year.

Imation-TDK Singapore does not offer any repair services
They just offer FOC swapped with a new revision BA200.

It now come with 1 single piece 1.2m cable, without the extension cable now.
They said the new revision sounded better than the one with 2 pieces main &  extension cables version.

are you sure that there is a revision? because the official imation representative told me that the only difference is the repackaging of the product

I have the new revision without the extension cable. I posted a picture on page 52 of this thread. I bought the even cheaper: 85,90 Euros (special offer for only one day). Great price/benefit ratio.

Yeah i know about this one german offer. I found it later. That was early March. Some guy was selling them on ebay for 99 euros LOL. He bought 4 pieces to make profit! I know this because his warranty receipt had as date the same as with the special offer date

Ok i was mistaken. I didnt know that there was a version with a 1.2 meter cord. I thought that when you were saying without an extension cord you meant without an extension cord provided. Not that this was the reason because now they offer a whole cable from the beginning!

Does it actually make any difference this version? Apart from what TDK told you. Is there anyone to test the two versions one with the extension and one without it?

Really i dont know which version i am going to get

Now that the cable is one without breaking into two parts, is it more likely to get busted? I am asking about the durability because from eye contact dont see any difference in the materials from the extension cord. If it is prone to break just as the extension cord maybe its actually worse to offer it as is (because you would have to change the whole earphones not just the extension cord....). Can anyone comment on that? thanks

Could you please tell me if the dimensions are the same with your new revision?

Product Dimensions: 8.2 x 5.6 x 20 cm ; 113 g

The one i bought from amazon has these dimensions and weight. Just to check which version i am going to get. Thanks

I got my BA200s today. There seems to be a new revision.
There's one long cable now (not a short cable + extension).
It came without 6.3 mm adapter and cleaning tool.
It has two pairs of Ts-100 in size M and L (the old one had Ts-100 (M) and Tx-100 (L)).

+ replacement filters are gone????  didnt see them in your photo

Im pretty sure you bought the old ones. The box that came with my ba200s measure 8cm x 5cm x 16cm. Not sure about the 20cm but either way the new packaging looks way out of proportion compared to those dimensions.

Even if there is any sound changes, i doubt its something major. But hey, nothing eartips cant change right?

As for the cables, I'd much rather have the ones with the extension. If you were to travel or go jogging with these, the extension will be the one all bent and twisted inside you pocket while the main jack will be hanging straight down. The better part is that if you put any stain on the cable, the connections between the main jack and the extension goes first before you ruin your main cable.

Oh.. my last reply wasn't too specific about the cable and got you mislead.
Due to busy with work, I haven't got a chance open up the package and listen to my new BA200.

From the material outlook, it look identical to the old one, so I am not sure how durable the new single cable is.
My old BA200 has broken cable of the main left cable. It is not the extension cable problem as I never used it.
If that was any indication BA200 cable does not last long, then I think both revision cables lifespan should be the same.

Btw currently I'm outside now. Will get you the new revision box dimension when I get home this evening time.

Thanks, Searching over the internet gives me conflicting results. Supposedly there are two versions on amazon. but i am getting same results that is the old version. I mean how can anyone buy the new version? is it random?

anyway thanks for replying. i was just curious about this.

btw if the new version lacks a cleaning tool and replacement filters that could be another problem apart from the cable thing......

edit: even stronger and warmer bass than ba200 is definitely also something id want.

There are people that would argue it either way. One could say that having the extension gives you an easier part to replace should something go wrong and compartmentalizes possible problems more. Another could say that having the cable in two parts raises the chance of a problem because there are more parts/sections that could suffer a failure.

FWIW, it was the female jack of my extension cable that broke, not the cable itself.

And the cleaning tool is nothing you couldn't live without since it's only to clean the eartips, not the actual nozzles and you can clean the tips with something like a toothpick that has paper towel wrapped around it or just boil them for a minute. No filters is more annoying.

Anyone know a good website to buy a pair? Amazon won't ship to my country, unfortunately :frowning2: will go for the E-Q5 instead as it's of similar sonic characteristic.
