An Amp/Dac combination is a different story, because you do not have the processor and the display...

(I did not meant voon by the next sentences)
Even though I will and cannot buy the DX100 (low on money), the DX100 bashing piss me off. To understand, that you cannot have much battery life with this device you only need to reed a few pages at wikipedia and datasheets! Until you do not carry around a truck battery you cannot expect that much of battery life.

Please do not bash it further, since the DX100 is IMO a piece of art!

I don't think the bashing is fully intended. We all know iBasso is a good company. People had high hopes and sometimes emotions can get out of control. The hate is simply disappointment manifested selfishly. The hate will continue, just ignore it and do something constructive.

What made the 801 a "leader"? It's price tag?

The 801 measured embarrassingly poorly.

I will judge the DX1000 primarily the same way I judge every other source/amp - when I see some measurements.

Do you base everything on measurements though? While measurements can be very helpful it can be misleading at times. Nothing is perfect and that also applies to the graphs.

It is a dap, not a death star coming to blow up planet earth! Get a grip. I look forward to it and enjoying some fine music. This hobby has come a long ways in the last few years and often on the backs of some industrious and hard working companies. iBasso has always been an upstanding company and cared for their customers needs. This is a reference dap and if the battery life isn't long enough for some, so be it but I look forward to it and the possibilities.

No, I don't base what I think of headphones or speakers on measurements.

Amps and DACs have very specific jobs, there is nothing subjective about it.

Fair enough. Just curious though how the 801 measured so poorly. Never heard the device myself though. At that price point you'd think they would have it right stock?

Voon and Mischa are so right on battery.

I watched American Idol last night and went to bed only to wake up and find I am too late to order the DX100. Dame the American Idol

With regard to battery life, 7 hours is really good on a device that gives you all those function. I have a Samsung Infuse 4g phone with 1800 mah battery and I can use a tiny Durracell back up battery to charge or use for another 7 hours. The DX100 has a 2000mah battery so I think I can use my Durracell backup to run the DX100 for another 6 or 7 hours if I have to while I travel. The Durracell is less than an oz and the size od a stick of gum.

We have the picture and the dimension of the DX100 for a while now, and all of a sudden it becomes very big, very interesting. In fact, it is about the size of my cell phone only thicker at under 1 inch. Like Scootermafia said, it is much better than a 3 piece or 4 piece combo. We are talking about a reference device here. May be Scooter should start making some coax interconnect with mini coax plugs?

The DX100 is very pocket sized guys - if you have a smock!

I bet this thing would sound amazing hooked via line out to a good desktop Amp :).

I’ll just put it in my purse. Or if I need to jog I’ll use the alo solo bag. It’s actually pretty good.

Tell that too all the tube amp loving audioelitists :) They're the bizarre people, who crave the most realistic playback possible of what happened on stage, but then add these devices of old, full of their contributions to sound.

Nothing wrong with different sound signatures. Otherwise things can get boring.

This device is big by todays standard but smaller than most of the cassette tape players that many older members used to carry 15 years ago and also smaller than most pcdp's
