I put the LCD-2 pads on and didn't like it very much. In what way did you find the sound so much better?

My previous amp was the LaFigaro 339 mod and now im using the WA6SE i cant really tell if the pads made the differences or the amp but imo the amp does the bigger changes,,but since my little brother is still using the 339 i can tell that the lcd pads kinda open the sound and makes the bass more tight and less boomy and the highs open up better than the stock or beyer pads..but then comfort wise a +10 for my head size hehe..

if i may know why didn't you like the lcd pads? and what is your impressions on it?

I have tried both Audeze leather and vegan pads - IMO the leather Audeze pads have a very focused and tight sound to them and a frequency balance tilted to the treble and upper mids.  I have got around this by doing a "bass lens" with a piece of felt to correct the frequency balance.  The vegan pads were very natural with a warm bass, but the mids were slightly grainy and lacking focus, and the treble was a bit uneven compared to the new Hifiman Velour pads, which to my ears sound very natural but with very flawed imaging and soundstage depth.

I think the leather Audeze pads are a little over-damped, while the vegan pads are a little under-damped.  I tried the STAX 007 pads as well, but they were very muddy and veiled.

My current preference is for the Audeze leather with bass lens as they provide the best soundstage and imaging as well as a very smooth and yet detailed, if not overtly "natural" sound.  For sake of curiosity I will have to try the FA003 pads - if they are angled that is

EDIT: I am afraid I was way too hard on the STAX 007 pads - the provide an excellent tonal balance with only a slight upper midrange peak over a very short frequency range, and the forward projection and imaging are excellent - even more cohesive than the LCD-2 pads if not as sharp on imaging.

The FA003 pads are not angled

The DT990 velour pads from Moon Audio are 100x more comfortable than either stock ones. Sound-wise, they sound just like the stock velour pads to me. To fit in the lip of the pad, the locking ring must be trimmed down a bit (about 1/6 of an inch). I personally cut the entire exterior, thinner part of the ring, and the pads stay on very well. Size-wise, they are very similar to the stock pads, but very slightly smaller (98% of us wouldn't notice). You might see a bit of the contour of the cups, but it's aesthetically much more coherent than say, LCD-2 pads.

I highly recommend these pads to any HiFiMAN headphone owners. They are absolutely worth the price (a bit over $40).

I'll have the Lawton leather pads in a few weeks. I'll post impressions then, although my feeling is that the HE-6 generally pairs better with velour pads sound-wise.

How exactly did you go about attaching them?  Pad modding always seems to me to be more trouble than its worth!

meeee toooo. Wasn't really hard. I never got the 990 pads to fit the T50RP tough - but some have managed that - which implies I am not in the most competent pad changing crowd.

I find both  the difference very small - both audio-wise and comfort-wise. The Beyer pads are softer but less deep.

Oops I think I was way too harsh on the STAX 007 mkii pads - as depending on your preferences they are arguably the best out there.  They provide the best imaging and forward projection (yes even better here than the LCD-2 pads, but with less soundstage width).  They also have a very natural tonality with excellent bass response, and are very comfortable and easy to fit onto the new HifiMan spacers.  Only downside is a slight upper midrange spike which does not coincide with sibilants but rather appears on some higher piano notes -unfortunately being musically ignorant I cannot accurately tell you which note this is - either way it is a very small drawback.  The main obvious drawback is the price of the STAX earpads - but hey you can almost pretend you are wearing a pair of 007's lol
