You have the ck4+ or just the ck4? The only difference between them is button layout right?

I think so mate, just the button layout was changed mainly for better usability.

You might see photo's floating around with an infra red panel on the bottom near the 'hold switch' which was removed and a slot (like a grill) on the back that was going to support an internal speaker, but it was never added apparently because they couldn't get decent sound from it.

Yes it's CK4+ I have. bigbargainsonline stocks CK4+ (they call it the newer model) I got them down to $165 "make an offer"

From the looks of the french site, it is the best player in the comparison, even beating the far more expensive hisound studio v. If the comparison is true then this thing is a bargain! This dap should be wayyy more popular... Very tempted to sell the j3 and get this.

Guy's , just got an update for anyone interested and mostly to clear something up.

Previously I mentioned the bass roll off with my H-100 Hyrbid, I was a little concerned about the effects it was having almost like a bad pairing or the Hybrids crossover and CK4+ were having some kind of compatabilty mis match, bass just wasn't solid and deep like people mentioned. it was actually rather subtle...

Well.....just now I got to test some other IEMs with CK4+, the bass was full, punchy and very powerful, much much better than what I was hearing with H-100. Completely different animal. I couldn't work it out at first, why people were saying the bass was deep and full bodied because I was not hearing that, and due to the limitations I had on hand was assuming that's how the bass was, now with other IEM, the bass was slamming, all this detail and power jumped out at me instantly when changing IEM's. Super happy!

Your signature fits very well. H-100 Y U HAVE NO full punchy and powerful bass with the CK4+? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

What IEM do you use now?

I'm not sure exactly why, maybe the crossover is not reacting properly. there's still bass I can hear easily, just quieter than other IEM's, But I try SHE3580, CK700, Monster Turbine much more bass, different, powerful bass. Last night I purchased Sony EX600, I think be good pairing for CK4+, bring out the beautiful vocals of CK4+.

I've got very good bass with IE8, Xcape IE, Phonak 112, and now super bass with UM3x. Great low bass and mid bass.

Thanks Berkovajazz! I have a funny feeling it's because my H-100 is a 'Hybrid' earphone, excellent mids and highs, but bass was reacting strange.

I will update when EX600 arrives!

Hi,

just received mine today. I found a great deal for a almost new CK+ on ebay including a 32gb sdcard. In this moment the sd gets filled up with music, but not yet with high rez files. The XBA-4 will be its mate for the first listening session. Afterwards, this weekend I will compare it in detail with the Teclast T51, the Hifiman 601 and the Cowon D3. Now lets see...

Excellent RAFA!

Be sure to let us know what you think, I am very interested!

I have been busy here and there. But I have tried EX600 and it's a nice pairing, I do prefer my H-100 over it. EX600 is very smooth in SQ. Good bass response

I have an update and a strange one regard in CK4+ I have now waited several days and I am almost certain this is true.

The bass has become a touch more in quantity to open box with CK4+ I know it sounds crazy but I have been monitoring this for several days since new, playing the same tracks over and over, I am now getting a better bass response. At first I was very worried about bass which I have mentioned it was a 'tap tap tap' rather than "thud thud thud" and sounded back seated. but now my unit has done around 50 hours bass has changed? It's fuller more prominent sound, I noticed on very first listening it sounded very much off, then there was a moment or two a few days ago I thought hey? where did that bass come from? then went away again, But last two days it has opened up a touch. The roll - off is still there of course I'm just talking about the quantity, it feels more balanced with the mids.

Call me crazy but I can only say what I'm hearing. I made sure several times before posting this.

I have a large soundstage with UM3x. Very deep and punchy bass, like IE8 on a powerful source, very similar. I still don't have a good treble, because UM3x. Thank you Westone:) lol

Waiting for your impressions Rafa:)!

:) did not have enough time yesterday to collect enough impressions, but so far.... The build quality is great, though the back plate is out of plastic, it feels so solid. I think the housing is cast-aluminium. The screen is also ok. Though it has not all features, the software seems not to be buggy. It cannot do FLAC tags, but it does the ID3-tags correctly.

These are just comments on the sound, yet not the final impression: I start with the difficult part, the lows. It seems, that Berkovajazz has no problems with quantity and quality of the lows and H20s lows are changing into good. If one could say that DAPs can burn in, then I would say that mine is already burnt in, because I bought it almost new. So far I find the lows to be just right, with the XBA-4 and the ATH-ESW9. On the other hand ESW9 are known for heaving a good (some say muddy) bass. Also the XBA-4 have a dedicated bass-armature inside. I have seen here a link to a CK4-Mod, which I think solves this problem, if there is one in the first place.

Yesterday before sleeping, I started listening to music with it and I must say that the CK4 is great, especially with the ESW9. It has a complete clean background, I could not hear any noise. Listening to music was wonderful. To say more about the sound I must listen to it for a longer time. It is just that I was impressed by its dark background. Also comparing it with the other three will help.

This is a great DAP. It is interesting, that it has not more popularity around here. Well, at least the C3 seems to have some interest.

Good news RAFA. I also believe it is very capable player.

Having C3 here too, I can say they're made using the same material or metal chassis. it is the same.

Are you expecting to test the line out? Because I am interested how it performs but have no amps here at the moment.
