Can some one tell me how long impression are good for? I got mine done over the summer (August) and was wondering if I can use them? I remember reading that after a while they reduce in size. It's that true? Thank you.

You hear different stories depending on who you ask. I've spoken to audiologists and CIEM manufacturers on both sides of the argument. Personally I've used impressions as old as 6 months and gotten perfect fit as a result - but I don't have any way of translating that to someone else's experience or guaranteeing it.

You could try inserting them and see if it still gives a nice, tight seal. If so it's probably safe to use.

It depends on the material.  Some silicone has minimal shrinkage while others shrink after a short time.  However, these days, most silicone impression material will not shrink, but I have heard the powder that needs to be mixed with water does.

As Project86 said, try them and see how they fit.  Walk around, do your normal routine, and see if you can get them to break the seal.  If not, you should be OK.  I say should because even with perfect impressions, things can go wrong every once in a while.

It is also important to make sure they were taken the same way the manufacturer recommends. So, if they were taken with a bite block, but the manufacturer wants a closed mouth, I would recommend new impressions.

Having had impressions made in three different silicones, I would just like to offer a vote for the green type - it's significantly denser than the pink or blue.

I'm not saying pink or blue is inadequate; I'm just saying if I had the choice, I'd go for green every single time, without question.

I don't know for certain, but I suspect the greater density of the green silicone might help it remain more stable over time than less-dense silicones.

EDIT: Apologies - I'd forgotten this was discussed a couple of weeks ago in this same thread:

Anyone actually heard the Earsonics EM32 yet?

It gets mentioned periodically, here on Head-fi (e.g.: http://www.head-fi.org/t/688417/em32-earsonics-new-flagship), but I haven't seen any proper impressions/reviews on how it sounds.

Apart from that helpful French fella (Rollk), I think nobody has it for the moment. If I had money, I would love to try actually. Since they got Franck Lopez, I am more interested in EarSonics.

Mine is coming in soon, made the payment two days ago. :)

Franck Lopez is at the beginning of EarSonics, he made himself all the CIEM of the brand, he creates the brand ;-/

Sly_in_the_Sky has the EM32 too, but we won't speak about them because of the reactions we were faced on our french forum tellement nomade. It's complicated to speak about a flagship when we don't have a better reference and especially when the sound signature is exactly what we were looking for... Mython, if you have any question, don't hesitate to ask them ! I'll be very happy to try to answer.

I hope you will prefer the EM32 to the EM6 Jason, to my mind yes, I disliked the EM6 and prefered the EM4, and now the EM32 reach where the EM4 failed.

Hmmm.  I think the S-EM6 is quite good and sounds more natural than my EM4, although the EM4 is brighter and somewhat fixes an issue many have with EarSonics products.  I would imagine the EM6 would outperform both the EM4 and S-EM6 from a technical standpoint since the S-EM6 performs at a very high level in universal form, and universals perform worse than customized versions in all of my experiences (UE, UM, Rhines/Vision Ears, Rooth, etc.).

I hope to hear the EM32 at some point, but don't have the ear time for it now.

I myself quite miss you and your reviews as well as comments AJ. I see that you are busy, I hope everything is fine and ok. Just to let you know, you gain a lot of people's sympathy, respect and friendship with your work and attitude to us in here.

I remember reading somewhere that you will even review K10 and Roxanne but who knows when

I am waiting for Tupac's return on the EM32. I am very interested in these but if they are not as good as the SE5 or too similar I might pass.

I think they are not too similar. Tupac told us, EM6 is similar with SE5way, more like SE5way on steroids, but they share similarities. Rollk also told me that EM32 is very different than EM6, so probably EM32 has a different presentation than SE5way.

Just guessing though.

Yes you are. And I thought S-EM6 sounds nothing like the SE5. So I will wait for actual comparison.
