Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

Bose is great, it gives you everything, but not exactly everything. Also, Moster is really good on quantity of bass and clear vocal
Therefore I will not say that either brand is a bad one. In fact, I will say the opposite: both Bose and Monster are good brand, they make headphones (cans) more poplular and attact more people into enjoying what they should be able to enjoy

I often saw half Apple in-ear and half SkullCandy in San Jose State, the place I go to
and there will be about 10 pairs of Dr.Dre passing me through. Once in a whine a HD25, ATH A 50, or Sony passed through when I have my IE8 in my pocket

During one of my class, we have to listen to voice and write down what it says. I can tell you clearly my Travagan's Red with Travagans 2 inches cannot do the job well
they make good quality sound, but not only are they a bit weak at bass, they are not that good at the quantity of the voice
The rig the class end up using is one of the 17 inch laptop's speaker, great quantity

Moreover, Bose often provide isolation when Monster gives you huge amounts of bass. These brands satisfied people's demand FOR QUANTITY OF SOUND
I say people are making progress, since they already care about the quantity, they are close to the point where they care about quality.

I love how much quantity Moster gives me, so I did grab a Monster Turbine online and use them when I want to be sinked all the way down to the boom-bang, or when I listen to rap
as of Bose, I rather invest into something else, but I will say Bose looks good, right behind Monster, Audio Technica, Shure, AKG, and Sennheiser

and for some reason, no one ever asked me to swap my pairs out for something else. I think it is probably one of the three following:
1. I am tall and rarely talks
2. I cannot hear them. Yet when I take off my headphones, people are often surprised at how small my volume is. My classmates had a Dre, yet I can hear them clear even with my headphone on and not playing music. When I started to listen to my own music, I cannot hear anything other people say despite I lock my iPod at about 25% volume and only scroll up half way
3. I look poor, cause my headphone and portable player can buy me ten decent cloths at outlet, yet I refuse to do so and wear the same jacket for three years. (
My family was advicing me to cut corners on headphones and spend more time on clothing, they know music is for myself, but the look is more important )
4. They went on Head-Fi and read about how Moster is acutally not good
5. As long as a owner of a headphone is having fun and enjoying them from his/her heart, I see no point to suggest anyone to swap their current gear out

Derp? monster has alot of bass, it's not good bass it sounds like some ones running a 50cal. chain-gun next to your head...but louder and more flabby, as for clarity of vocals for lack of better words BULLS4!T! vocals reside in the midrange not the bass or highs, Men's voices protrude into the bass spectrum and females protrude into the high spectrum but about 90% is midrange. Bose would be great if they didn't charge such obscene prices.

I know this is random and probably creepy, but oh my gosh she's your girlfriend now?!

And my satellite friend once questioned why I used my DT220's instead of Beats. I promptly hit them with it (they could survive a nuclear war.) and told them to do the same with the Beats and see if it doesn't break. He almost did too until he noticed the sarcastic tone of my voice and figured that wouldn't end well. He didn't really like the sound of them though. Said not enough bass, which I can't really fault him on. He loved the mids though.

Haha yes, she's become my girlfriend.

I don't make friends with people who buy Beats, I don't let my current friend's buy beats and I randomly beat up strangers when I see them wearing beats.  So the question has never been asked.

You're my hero!

I have to say that my friend has beat pros and they weren't too bad sounding (they sound great without amplification, mostly cause thats what they're geared towards), or too shabby looking.  the metal design was quite nice but then again, $400?  i don't think so

the quality is decent, but its really overpriced for what they can do

never really. my friend did that once but as a joke cause he knows i really don't like them and he sees and hears tons of my amps and speakers around my house and understands why i don't like them.

most people that know me, don't even question it

they know I do my research

btw, I like the beats (not the solo's but the expensive ones), they really don't sound as bad as people make them out to be.  That being said, I still could think of so many other pairs of cans I'd rather have.

Beats are some sexy "thangs", they don't have the sound for that price range, but they are marketed better than any other headphone I own. I've brought my beyerdynamic DT990/250ohm to school with my FiiO E7 and proved to a couple people that beats are the most over priced pieces of crap ever. Just a personal experience that made me feel a bit better about my audiophilic(?) choices. As for being called out? No, never, my friends understand my passion and never mention beats or skullcandies around me.

Most people can't hear the difference. They can feel the bass from the beats and love the design. i actually feel monster does awesome work with the look and marketing of their phones.
Aiaiai have created quite a buzz with their headphones (esp the TMA-1) around these parts. I don't like the very dark sound of the TMA-1's but I got an incredible deal on them and I am getting a pair today and want to see if I can get them to open up with eq'ing.
Looks are important. Branding and fashion is important and head-fi'ers are in a way branding themselves by lugging around huge cans and portable amps. It is a way to stant out and be a part of an exclusive club. Hey I have some stupidly expensive gear for a student myself (Beyerdynamic manufaktur Dt880 600ohms, beyerdynamic A1 amp and I am getting a Squeezebox touch too as a cheap DAC/player).
I like being a part of this club, the music gives me many good experiences and I enjoy anytime somebody asks what headphones I am wearing.

Everyone at high school. :). Every teenager there seems to praise the Beats / Bose / Skullcandy. The best I've ever seen during school that people wore were Sonys.
