Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

So what are your impressions of the XB700s? And Compare them to the pros?

By the way, what did you use for music samples when you tested the 700's?

I heard both, the XB700's I have owned for over 2yrs.
Pro's I demoed quite a few times:

Beats pro:
Pros:
-Punchy bass, very dominant
-Good quality wire
-Look?
-Foldable

Cons:
-Annoyingly heavy
-Clamp force is too much
-Not comfortable due to small cushions + clamp + weight
-IMO: highs I couldn't stand, and mids that were piercing my ears
-Price

If i were you, I would NOT wear the pros outside - not due to being "another beats owner" but rather, the fact that they are so heavy, I wouldn't be comfortable, similarly how the XB700's are not really meant for outside use, as they are HUGE.

If you want indoors: Get the Denon D2000's they won't disappoint in ANY department - bass isn't as punchy, but amp that, be it via your phone/player or an amp, and the bass beats the pro's and the XB700's by a considerable amount.

XB700's don't stand a chance vs the denon's
The XB700's were possibly a little worse than the pros

Then put price into consideration, for value for money:
2/10 = Pros @£250
10/10 = Xb700's @£70
8/10 = Denon's @ £200

Well, I understand why you'd think that, but I see the appeal to that phone. hah, they would never say that to me as they  have NO CLUE what the REZOUND is at all. Hmm..I notice it as red to me, guess I don't notice pink until they go really light. But at least I see some shine of a different color other than dang white.

Oh of course, hardware wise, it is definitely a great phone. It's just that even developers are starting to incorporate this so called "Beats audio" into their builds. Naturally, once CM9 lands, it'll be brilliant. Though I'd probably prefer Nexus for Voodoo. The old 5 band EQ of DSPManager got a little upgrade to 6 band.

I heard voodoo, aka supercurio, and got happy :D!
I love that guy, voodoo control app, is god damn brilliant. Changes the SQ of my S1 by a mile.

CM9 on S1 is nice although not perfect.

I'll stay on topic and say, some are worth it some aren't - but also bear in mind the audio chips and quality of the phones.
I look in everything when I buy a phone:
-Audio chip/quality
-Battery life/removal battery
-Screen size and resolution
-UI and customisability (ie rooting + bootloaders)
-CPU
-GPU
-RAM

All the above, I love my SGS1, haven't seen the need to upgrade to an s2 + the SQ on a s2 is known to be worse than the s1 - no idea why they downgraded to a yamaha chip...

I really wish the Best Buy like that were closer to me. We have one in Austin I think, but it's not close enough. I tend ot go to Guitar Center to browse when I'm looking for a new piece of kit (DJ wise).

Good story though. I still haven't heard the M80 and it's frustrating. I'm totally getting another pair of HD 25-1 IIs when I get my new turntables though.

Alright so a little story..

Last night I was at Mall of America here in Minneapolis, and the best buy in there is pretty insane, absolutely huge..  They even have a full musician area with guitars/bass/dj equipment etc.  Tons of decent DJ headphones in there as well, its pretty cool.  Anyways, the main headphone area consisted of lower end senns, some sonys (including the xb700, which I tried for the first time and was unimpressed), other assorted cheapies, and of course the beats trio.  As Im browsing for the hell of it, and trying the xb700 out, kids started coming up to the beats and trying them.  When I was done with the sonys there were five guys standing there (3 demoing) all raving about how good all of the models are.  One guy was saying he was pretty sure he was going to buy the beats pro, but he didnt know yet so he wanted to come back.  Being the nice guy that I am, I decided to bud in and offer my advice.  Knowing that the microsoft store in the building carried the V-Moda Crossfade LP/LP2 and the M-80/V-80, I suggested he check them out.  Having listened to all of the beats models on a few occasions, and owning a pair of crossfade LPs, I can safely say the V-modas trump the beats in pretty much every aspect.  I explained why I was giving him this tip, and told him to at least go down to the microsoft store and see what he thinks.

Well, I then left best buy and my friend and I sat down and ate some wings.  When we left, on our way out, I saw that same guy carrying a microsoft bag with a v-moda shaped box in it.

Total sense of accomplishment.  I saved him some money, too

Its nice when people actually listen to the advice given and not just shrug it off because of that "pull" beats have on people.

I haven't the luck to get an SGS1 dedicated to media playing but once CM9 gets polished I may just jump on it. Would also serve as a nice backup device in the event my main phone(D2Global) gets stolen. I'm probably one of the handful who need phones that work around the world with no exceptions. That being said, the Droid 1's still pretty nice to have on backup, despite the fact that CM9 likes to run like a Powerpoint sometimes. Not without using a bit of more aggressive memory management does it work well. As soon as they get audio working, I might just reactivate it.

I have to admit that quite a few of them have some nice designs, but it just makes me sad to see someone have that many of the same headphones. Especially Beats. I could see having a "for looks" or pair intended for home use and a pair meant for heavier use on the go, but every duplicate is meant for looks only. After the 2nd or 3rd pair, you should really consider spending money on more variety  or higher quality stuff. Of course, I assume he doesn't realize there are better options.

'He did a good job of getting people to buy them...Such as myself.'

Yes. Unfortunately he did...and that's why kids like you thing they sport 'great sound' and anyone that has them are fans of 'great sound'.

...at least he hates the Solos... :D
