Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

The Signature Pros are some of the most impressive headphones I've ever heard. They get very, very, VERY close to HD800 performance, but in a closed-back can, which I never thought would be possible. They lack the bloated bass, head-clamping and artificiality of the rest of the Ultrasone line. The Sig. Pros are extremely comfortable and very neutral. An amazing technical feat to get so close to HD800s in closed-back cans. The Signature DJs are also very nice, but definitely have big, non-neutral bass. They are actually kind of reminiscent of the V-Moda M100s

I completely agree. I 've got the Signature pro for monthes now and I was a bit afraid to find it not good enough anymore comparing to my last purchase the HD800. It's definitely not the case in my opinion. Ultrasone Sig pro don't get attention it really deserves for sure.

Guys... What portable dac amp or amp that able to power HD600 for laptop use? Other than O2amp? O2amp is good, but I prefer more input to make choice...

So far so good! Love the neutrality for my HD600 as well as my SRH840.

Depending on your budget, the Ray Samuals Audio portables drive the 600 nicely.  I have the hornet.

The O2 is good, but bulky and battery life isn't great. I've had great results with both the JDS Labs C421 and the Neco Soundlabs portable V2 and V3. The Neco V4 looks amazing...

Best regards,
Adam

Just when I thought the HD600's couldn't sound any better I went and replaced my rega RP1 turntable with an RP3. I think I'm in heaven.

What phono stage are you using?  I got an RP3 a few weeks ago, and I love it.  I do think that I can get a little more out of my system by upgrading the phone stage from my Rega mini.  I've been hesitant to get a new one because I also want to upgrade my speaker amp, and the Rega Brio-R also has the phono stage that I want

Then stop reading here, and go get that Brio R!

I had a Rega Brio that I suppose was the first generation.  Looks like this one:

It was musical.  Not great ultimately, but great to listen to as it played tunes.  I always enjoyed it.  Paired it with B&W 302 speakers and a VPI table.  Many good memories.

First, I have to put the money together. Then I have to find a place to put it with a second set of speakers.  I've got my 5.1 setup for movies, but I don't really have space for another set of speakers for stereo listening.  The setup that I heard at the local shop was the RP3, the Rega Brio-R, and a pair of Rega RS3 speakers.  I could live happily with that exact setup.  Obviously, I like Rega products

I just have it hooked up to my Sony str-6800 SD receiver

are these any decent for rock?

Depends on how you like your rock. If tonally you want it somewhere between a stock Prestige-series Grado and an RS-1 (or a ludicrously deep chamber modded Prestige), and imaging somewhere between these and the K701, and have an amp that does well with these (an RS-1 is good enough out of an iPod if the room is quiet enough) then yeah, they're great. On classic rock though I'd still give it to the SR225/325 and RS-1 (that or I'm listening to bad CDs made out of old master tracks intended for vinyl, if that's even a factor).
