First post from a long time lurker....would really appreciate some advice.
 
I mainly listen House/Electro, mixed in with some classical once in a while. Overall I'd say I prefer a bass heavy sound.
My main headphones are Sony 7509HD and the AKG K450 ([size=small]excruciatingly[/size] uncomfortable for me).

I'm looking at a full-size (semi portable) and my options are:

Creative Aurvana Live @ $70
Audio Technica WS55 @ $100
Koss UR50 @ $90
 
I've heard a lot of good things about the CAL!, but may have a weak bass and bad sound leakage? Comfort is also an issue as the AKGs are an absolute nightmare for me. 
Any insight would be great!

The CAL! is not a bass heavy can--nor is it a bass absent one.  It is a good all-rounder for its price class (at about $75 to $90 anyway).  It is light and very comfortable.
 
I don't know anything about the other cans on your list.

Currently I have modded Alessandro MS-1i. Generally they are less peaky in mids, have better separation, and the bass is more even and deeper than stock, In my profile I have measurements uploaded.
I want to move to something more balanced, preferably deeper bass, even treble, and more details along with better soundstage. I've been thinking about getting a Fostex t50rp and modding it, would that be a good move considering my expectations?

Hi all, haven't been here for a while. 
 
Now I have Beyerdynamic DTX 800 which are starting to fail on me, so I'm ready to try something new.
 
I am a hobby-level musician, mostly doing relaxing electronic music, something ambient or trance-like. Also I like to listen to rock music, ethnic electronica, and some classical music (rarely).  I'm not a fan of rap, hard rock, metall. For me hearing more details is more improtant than getting more bass.
 
What I would like from my headphones: 
- analytical sound - I try to teach myself to avoid exagerated bass or highs, after all - if I'm creating music myself, I should hear it as natural as possible
- comfortable, might be not portable, but should be durable
 
 
I would like to get Sennheiser HD280, but that is much over my budget (on Amazon UK at least).
 
While reading reviews, I found that Sony MDR-V6 seems to be the best I can get for my money:

I was surpised to see that soundwise the cheaper Superlux HD668B are rated higher than MDR-V6. So now I'm a bit in doubt which ones should I get. Will HD668B give me more accurate sound than Sony MDR-V6 ? Or maybe there is something even more analytic (available on Amazon UK) for about the price of MDR-V6 ?

Sennheiser pxc 450 vs audio technica ATH-M50?
 
I want to buy headphones for me to use in my iphone which I can carry around a lot. I also want a comfortable headphone that doesn't hurt after some time of use (I find beats studio and beats pro very uncomfortable since they hurt after about an hour of use), good sound quality, closed so that other people cant hear what Im hearing, and overall durability since I carry it around a lot. The sennheiser pxc 450 looked like the best option since they are portable, foldable, come with a case, are comfortable, and have a good noise cancellation (I dont know if they are closed or open). However, they are a bit pricey ($350). My other alternative would be the Audio- technica MTH-M50 which is cheaper. Which one is best for me? (comfort, closed, durability/portability, sound quality) What are the differences? If the pxc 450 is better according to my needs, is it worth the higher price? 
 
Additional question: Does either one require a tiny amp to make it sound properly if Im using an iphone? If so, will a cheap 30 dollar boostaroo be enough?

I currently have a set of ATH-A900's at home. I got them around October/November and love them. I'd like to get a set of headphones relatively close to this I could use at work that wouldn't look as ridiculous as these do.
 
I also have a set of ATH ES55's and SJ55's I got for portable use. They're decent, but not Circumaural, which I feel I need for good isolation at work now; at least when I crank the volume up

. I've mostly been using the SJ55's at work as they're more comfortable and isolate better than the ES55's.
 
As far as amps, I have a FiiO E7 I use at home, and an E6 I use at work/on the go. If I really needed to I could bring my E7 back and forth between work and home, but would prefer not to.
 
1) Portability/size. Must be able to fold. No larger, or not much larger than SJ55's
2) Closed back for isolation. Isolation's important
3) Circumaural for comfort, should also be better for isolation than on ear.
4) Sound as close to the ATH A900 as possible in this price range while being smaller; I realize they won't sound "as good" while costing less and being smaller, but as close to them is what I'd like.
5) Comfort: Ideally don't clamp too much, but at the same time at work I usually get out of my seat/desk at least once an hour, so I guess 3+ marathon session without taking them off isn't a necessity.
6) Budget: $150 tops, maybe a tiny bit of wiggle room.
 
The main sets I've been looking at so far at the ATH-M50 and Ultrasone HFI 780. I like the look of the 780 better, and they're a bit smaller than the M50, but I've heard their high end can be a little harsh. I've listened to a set of Sony 7506's and more or less hated them unless I equalized them a lot. Out of the box the 7506's were way too harsh for me, made them hard to listen to after just 20-30 minutes.
 
The good news is I can equalize either set at work. The sound source will either be my Android tablet with Poweramp, or my Sansa E280 with Rockbox.
 
Is there's something other than the M50, or HFI 780 that meets this criteria and sounds closer to the A900, I'd love to know. Also, if neither the M50 or HFI 780 are going to be much of an improvement as a portable/work headphone over the SJ55 I have I'd like to know as well.
 
I've also thought about IEMs, namely the Klipse Image S4, but general prefer headphones for comfort. I'll probably try the S4 at some point though.

I'm now looking to get AKG Q701s for primarily gaming instead of DT990s, but I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews. Some say it is just like the K701, others say it is a bit more bassier with a reduced soundstage. I rather pay for the bass as the K701 is lacking, but how would the DT990s stack up against the Q701s in gaming, music, and media?
