Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
Sep 14, 2014 at 11:40 PM Post #4,052 of 13,134
There was some poster on reddit that confirmed it worked fine with his LCD-2s.  Are you sure it's the same thing?

Taken 5 mins ago...unless there is a wider one...I don't think so.

Pull as I might at the center it would not fasten. There may be bigger grades of the same pad but as far as I know the ebay/Amazon ones are generic.

Try one of these......Sennie 650 cushion. I have it on a pair of D2k.

Let us know what you chose! I've had the same problem, especially with the bumps digging into my head after half an hour.  Just looked the ultra generic one up and it seems to be a bit cheaper, might pick one up:

EDIT:  Decided to impulsively buy the same thing on ebay with $1.90 shipping lol.

The following is a review from Amazon, and the LCD2.2 headband is wider than HifiMan :frowning2:
"I bought these to go over the stock headband on my HiFiMan HE 500's. The fit was pretty tight, I thought they would stretch more than they actually did and one of the snaps is a little bit weaker than the others (an inside snap out of four total) and it sometimes unsnaps when I am adjusting the headband. The cushioning is great, very comfortable, much more comfortable than the stock HFM's, my Sennheiser HD 650 or my Beyer Dynamic 990' stock headbands."

Here is another option, although it's not exactly designed for headphones.

And looks like this:

Oh man I don't know about those.... I feel like they'd bind up really easily/have a massive crease in the center.  The HD650 cushion would be a good solution but I feel like it'd have a hard time staying on given that the LCD-2's head band has those bumps.

Might just need to fabricate something that won't look goofy.  Thanks for the heads  up too.

No, it is the ear-side damping materials under the earpads....but I got no idea why they are needed on an LCD-2 can that is not bright and they don't do anything to bass that I can detect...more de-shout mids and take the bite out of treble according to my A|B'ing Fostex T50-RP's...if anything, it would make the mids and treble less clear on LCD-2's when all the movement with R2 and Fazor has been to clear things up in that region of mids/treble....the mod kit is used for subtractive damping because T50-RP's can get shrill with certain mastering and the mids are shouty out the box....it is a different horse for a different course. Also you have to factor in other people have a different upstream DAC/Amp which may be the culprit for anything 'bitey/bright' in LCD-2's....

don't listen to theories from guys that just read graphs if you have an issue with mids, lows and highs then buy them and try them you will like the outcome

those are the ones only for 14.99 USD u should get those and try it, I was first skeptical but now my audeze is where it should be in sound signature.

I agree, I tune by ear for any mods but you don't get something for nothing with taming the highs there is also a resolution reduction.
It's also good to know what other members have in their profile hardware listing upstream as LCD-2s have never been known as bright unless the Fazor upper end has changed and do you have Fazor or 2.2 or what ?

i have the pre fazor, and I use the chord hugo and ipod combo, the mad dog treats really made everything much better especially shouty mids and better bass

So I just de-soldered my internal cables so I can directly terminate a new one with no mini-xlr's or different cables in the line....
Does anyone know if the mini-xlr is glued into the wood ports in the R1's ?  I'm about to tear the headphone down more and remove the planars.

I bought a new pair of LCD-2's for $800 from http://www.razordogaudio.com/ and I am completely blown away by them. I have never heard anything like these and my favorite headphone before now has been the already amazing HD 650's.

The serial number of mine is  5423381 and it was made in made in December 2013 according to the warranty documentation. Do I have the latest version?

According to Tyll the Fazored LCDs started 18th December 2013.  So if it's after that, you have the latest revision.
