  Great, thanks!

Does anybody know how the T1's + complimenting amp, compares to the Fostex HP-A8 + TH600

Also any reasonably priced amps that can be easily obtained in the UK

The HP-A8 with the TH-600 (or 900) sound brilliant, but not better than the T1 IMO - perhaps equal and different, but not better. I think the TH-600 has a more weighty, lush presentation without the air and agility of the T1.

You are talking about two separate concepts. People run the HE-6 off the speaker terminals because it requires that much power. I believe he was asking if he could use the headphone output on his receiver. The answer would be yes but with a great loss in sound quality.

No, they also run them off receivers. I ran my T1 out of a speaker terminal on an emotiva. People do run them off Receivers too. I was just exaggerating on the power output for arguments sake. They do use speaker amps but they also use receivers :)

I'm not happy really with my Burson 160D and T1. T1 are wonderful paired with OTL. Not because tubes make T1 smooth or sweet, but because OTLs guarantee enough power to feed them. Remember that they are 600 Ohm (nominal) and reach 1400 Ohm. Poor SS like Burson might have a little bit of distortion in higher frequencies, that's why sometimes T1 becomes HOT. I have something similar to Bottle Head Crack with "bright" sounding tubes (Siemens 6992 & Svetlana 6as7) and it sounds perfectly.

HA-160D was based on Burson custom architecture. Conductor is based on Saber ESS9018, which gives it a different sonic signature. Comparing 160D and Conductor is of no use. As for OTL that is just a legend as well. I had WA2 and it made my T1s sing, but uncomparably lesser than may Corda Classic.

You may be right about the 160D. However, the 160D is no Soloist. These are two very different animals.

Could not agree more.

I'm having trouble understanding why someone would want to hook up a headphone like the T1 to the back of a speaker power amp. Anyways, to each his own. I'll leave my Parasound to my speakers and my Burson to my headphones.

I thought the same way until I tried it. Been at it for a couple of years now with all the headphones I own.

Ok, but explain to me this. You can get a headphone amp under $1000 with far superior quality construction and specifications to a speaker amp so why bother? For example, the Burson Soloist will power any headphone to it's fullest potential and is made much better than any speaker amp I know of under $1000.

Custom architecture ? you mean PCM1793 DAC former implantation on HA-160D ? They revisited it for their Conductor and it's now an option to switch the ESS9018 by this newer implantation of PCM1793 DAC (the implantation of PCM1793 is not the same now than it was on the HA-160D .

Bah even with the older HA-160D some can enjoy the combo with T1

There is an SL version of Conductor that offers PCM1793, but the main model only has ESS9018.

SO it means that you can switch the ESS 9018 in the main conductor by a PCM1793 if you want

Can be placed in the regular conductor, but only the SL version comes pre-fitted with it. Only custom ones will have that chip.

Well it's an option at least

An option is not the same as standard.

Well let's stop this childish play

, we are just arguing for nothing

(Now some peraphs will know that their is an alternative DAC for their Conductor) .
