Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

How are the se425 with classic rock and indie rock?
The SE425 are really good ...

Shure accidentally sent me a pair as a warranty replacement for a SE535 that I had to send back and so I got to use them for a few days while I waited for them to correct their error ...

Not quite as detailed as the SE535 and not quite as good of instrument separation but still *very* close.

The 425 is a great IEM for the money if you can find a used set ...

Ok great, but comparing the ohms to the klipsch x11i or x7i, the se425 are less, even tho the 425 were used in a video to show off the ak100ii, do you go by ohms allot in IEMs? Thank you
I've heard them and they are good with these genres.Basically with anything except edtm (not enough bass).Like the se535 their strong point is in the mids.Anything with vocals, strings cymbals with very good timbre for their category.

Had my 535s for a couple of months now. Loving them! Had 2 pairs of 420s before, both pairs ended up splitting where the cable attached to the (right) housing; so really appreciate the detachable cables. I do not discern any lack of bass or rolled-off highs compared to the 420s, perhaps my ears are not educated enough
Got a silver litz cable coming from Ted Allen at headphone lounge; I wasn't a cable 'believer' but got an aftermarket cable with the phones; had an inline mic, wasn't expecting a difference in SQ and was more using them so I didn't have to keep taking them out for phone calls (most often driving from my S5). However, the right channel cut out so went back to stock, and there is a distinct difference to my ears. I believe the aftermarket was SPC. Anyhoo, after a little back and forth with Ted, jumped for the SL and couldn't be more excited. I know I can nominally get more improvement in SQ/soundstage etc by upgrading my DAC/amp (only have a little Creative sound blaster E3), but love the portability of my current setup.

Yeah, although as I only really thought about it after returning to the stock I would describe it in contradistinction to it. Stock has less soundstage and what I can only describe as a bit more of a 'veil'; the SPC seemed to have an immediacy and sparkle that the stock lacks. Note, though, that I only went to stock because the right channel stopped working on the aftermarket, which makes for a poor A/B; so this is largely from memory really (and as unreliable as that implies).

I had an aftermarket cable cut out on me two months ago and apparently cleaning the connector of the cable with some alcohol (70% Isopropyl) and Qtip and the cut outs went away. It could be worth a try.

Been using my 535 LTD-J for awhile now and absolutely loving it. I wonder where to next?

Do I take it a step further and get the 846 or should I jump ship to the 'darker' side of IE800?

Need something that will work great with my mediocre portable setup i.e. plugged straight into phones/iPod/laptop.

You haven't listen to the 535 LTD-J until you pair it up with the Cayin C5 portable amp. After owning the earphones for two years and finally getting the C5, I was like, what have I been missing for the past two years?

Stack isn't really my thing as I like to travel with less stuff on my pocket and or bag to be honest. But I'll look into that and thanks for your suggestion!

I believe you could purchase Dunu Titan 1 for $115 and be as impressed as SE535, maybe even more.

535 is decent, but can be beaten with today's present IEMs pretty easily.

I sold my SE535 because I preferred Tenores. =)
