I think about 300.

Funny thing is, I think I had almost the same # for the L3000... bought mine used while there were still some around for $1500.  A few months later they were all gone, and sold it 1.5 years later for $2k, but they had some blemishes and I had replaced the drivers personally due to a defect... mint ones were going for around $2500 at the time.  500 of those guys.

Not sure if that will be the case with the Ed8s, but most limited run top-tier cans have appreciated in value quite a bit over the years.  While it may be debatable the Ed8s qualify for the top-tier, I'm fairly certain they would give the L3000s a run for the money and many would likely prefer them.

That's a good point, they certainly aren't going to take off price-wise as long as the Edition 8s are being sold.  The whole line could be discontinued eventually though.

I'll never sell my ED8's anyway.

Another good point

I have 2 of them and am saving up for a $5k+ engagement ring and am toying with offing my 'portable' pair.  I only use those into my Macbook Air or iPhone when I'm hanging out in some coffee shop programming all day... just, can't, bring myself to do it.

Why not?

Okay, so after 400 hrs of burn-in, it now sounds even and balance and also seems to sound great with all types of music.  Plugged to my HM-801 it sounded good, with an portable amp it sounded great, with the Meier Concerto a bit cleaner sounding with better defined lows and highs.  I will have to admit, this is a step below my recently sold LCD-2 and HD800 in terms of overall sound clarity. I will be rebuying the LCD-2 for serious listening but keeping the ED-8 for portable, office, bedroom, & movie use.

Cool! Did you try plugging in the Ed8 to higher-end gear than the Concerto/HM-801? Or did you compare the LCD2 on great gear vs Ed8 on the 801?
Glad you ended up liking it.

Same source for both headphones but different amps.  Concerto for ED-8, LYR for LCD-2.  Sources are Marantz SA8001,HM801 and Rega P5 w/ ortofon bronze.  I do not have the LYR and LCD-2 with me but I have owned it for 7 months so I was just comparing it from memory.
