Mr. X: What amp are you using? But anyway, I had already feared that the K240S wouldn't be that great for you, as you like the leaner presentation of the K240M so much - that's why I recommended to check the K501 as well...

I've only plugged into an Onkyo receiver, a MOTU 828, and mixing consoles.

Yeah, no doubt, I love that "leaner" sound......no prob, I'll just get the M's back....I'm glad I got to test them both...

One of the things that bothers me the most is the fact that the M's were a little more comfortable...I can't believe they made the Studios tighter and a little heavier......

Hmmm - couldn't really say that I had noticed any difference in weight and fit, actually. But maybe there was a change from the first K240S batch with micro jack to the newer mini xlr versions...

The cable plug has changed since the 240S first came out?

"Micro jack" vs. "newer mini xlr"?

I was not aware of this. I thought it was always the same. Which one works with the SAA cable?

jpelg: Yes, the first batch had a 2.5 mm stereo micro plug (similar to the common 3.5 mm / 1/8" mini plug, but even smaller), whereas the newer ones apparently have mini xlr like the K271S. So the SAA cable is probably made for the latter.

I finally took back the punchy studios and got the Monitors...........

..aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Yamaha CDX-396---->Onkyo TX-DS575x----->AKG K240M

Oh, how I'm loving it.......
