What is really funny is I have made several cables for this headphone and can tell you that this is not a dark headphone. The cabel tends to make them this way. I have even upgraded the cable that come with them and the dakeness most experince with them is gone. I have tried at least three diffrent cable designs and perfer the cardas cable with the LCD2 that is right same cable that everbody puts on the sennhesier HD6xx does wonders for the LCD2 and in no way will you experince what some think as darkness. Small things can make big diffrences and save you alot of time and money. I had the extra cable laying around and a soldering iron so for me was not a big deal. For others keep on fishing maybe you will catch something besides an empty wallet.

Too bad Audeze never thought of doing that.

How do you know they did not do just that. They may have come up with a sound they liked and a cable that would make them money.
After all that is what they are out to do make money. I would hope we are out to save some even though it does not always work out that way in this hobby. Hope fully we learn some things along the way mostly through trial and error. Sometimes we can pass this along but most will just say no way. Yes way believe it or not.

what? dull is word for LCD 2?

I wish to try out rev.2 of course like everybody does, but I am not sure if I want them cuz there is no such thing as improvement. depends on the personal sound preference and the whole system, amp/dac/cable, etc.

But yes, I want to try out rev.2, will I exchange my rev.1 to rev.2 for free? no~

Come on, all of you secretly want the "NEW IMPROVED LCDs".  Clearer and cleaner is always better......  Nobody wants to buy the old dull, treble challenged versions when there are new ones to be had.

There was an interesting point about the upgrade program..... when you send it your headphones for the upgrade to the new drivers, does Audeze send you back your old drivers?  After all, what do they want with your old drivers?

I just received my brand new rev 2's this past Monday. I live in Minneapolis and am interested in trying these out on a more accomplished amp while I wait for my Isabellina LFP-V HPA from Vinnie. If anyone in these environs has a rev 1 and would like a listen, it would work out great for us both.

seriously I could care less what version of the LCD-2 I have I would have to tailor the sound with a tube change or whatever for my liking so its just another bit in the audio chain.

I just got mine 2 days ago.. loving them so far ! I had a go with my own equipment in a hifi store where I live for about 4-5 hours, and I find that I like these more. I commented to one of the guys at the store that I found the LCD-2s at the store to sound a little veiled/glossed over in the mids, and that I had to turn up the volume to get more kick out of them.  Don't have the same complaint with the ones I've just received. Tonally they're perfect for me.

does anyone know where to bend them to relax the grip with the new leather headband? i feel that the forward part of the earcups in front  of my ears are a litle tight - i find myself pushing the headphones foward and backward to ease the grip on my jaws and now they're kinda sore...

soundwise - they're absolutely wonderful with my meier concerto + wavelength proton!

Did you ever try the Norse Cable, arguably the most affordable out of the cables available?  I thought the stock cable was pretty good and Norse equally as good and easy on the eyes.

I feel the Norse cable is just a tad better than the stock cable I actually switched them several times yesterday its easy on the wallet as well

Everybody wants the new improved version......

The resale price is dropping as we post....

How much would someone be willing to pay for the old version with the non angled cable attachments, the old non A covers, the old headband, the old ear pads, the old blocks and the old drivers, when they can buy the new, improved, clearer sounding version instead...... never mind that the LCD-3 is right around the corner?

I don't. Definitely would not want to mess with how my LCDs sound.

Very interested in the new headband though. Does it offer a good comfort upgrade?

I like the new headband I just bought it as an upgrade it felt kinda stiff the first couple days I put some HQ leather conditioner on it and let it sit wiped it off and they feel awesome.

Makes me wonder how bats perceive tonality, imaging, soundstage, musicality and detail.

I read that link. I don't think its valid for the type of listening recognition audiophiles do.  the people running the test have no clue about the world audiophiles live in.   I don't see any of the test as valid for us.

Sorry about that.  I meant to put up a link about acoustic memory and instead sent you to bat navigation school.  I just wanted to share something I thought might be of more general interest about recalling acoustic memories (not the same as remembering a song) and how these issues might apply to designing human (as opposed to mechanical) tests that could compare the differences between r1 / v1 and r2 / v2 drivers.  It's not worth any additional discussion and I regret wasting anyone's time on the link.  I do wonder, though, if anyone tried listening upside down to the LCD2 after my error.  Hmmm . . .
