i usually like a short cable also....but when I need the extra length to get to the couch.....I pull out the extension cable ...it is long enough to get me anywhere in the living room.

Come to think of it, I did use mine once, and being 15' gave me plenty of length for me to go from the living room to my kitchen, so it is nice to have.

Has anyone noticed very articulate bass with rs1i?

For me it has the best bass detail I have ever heard. Not quantity but quality.

Explain the sound signature of those drivers....again, those are just kick ***** beautiful and I bet the sound is also.

thanks WW. I rate these at the Rs1/GH-1 grado line-up. Very resolving, bass has a greater presence but it is taut not flabby or boomy, midrange is on the warmish side, it does not sound thin at all but very nice, IMO.

I find the bass presentation of the RS1i to be exceptionally articulate and musically very accurate, especially when listening to classical or live jazz recordings. If you need "dat bass" get some Beats.

haha, dat reminds me, at one point I had a pair of Denons that I believe are the same headphone as the CAL! headphone. While they were very nice, light and comfortable they gave me a screw*** headache after 15 minutes from dat bass!

That sounds wonderful, worms. I am in no way a bass head, but I have come to like it much more when it can go deep and not be boomy

I agree, what is there from the RS1i is quality, even if it does lack a little in quantity

Yes, I always have…and the 325is is right behind the RS1i for its bass quality.

Haven't spoke much about the 009 but although their not bass heavy, the bass is tight/quick/controlled and has a nice depth without being boomy at all.

That sounds very nice, indeed Joseph

Me thinks you are going to be pretty happy once the BHSE arrives......i bet tubes will be able to give you any kind of bass that you want.

That is what I am finding out with Glenns amp, it is very transparent to tube rolling and the swap of a single driver tube can make the bass on the HD800 go deep and slam hard, and still be intact as far as speed and control....it is a wonderful thing.

Very nice to able to roll the tubes in your Glenn amp and get the sound you desire. As far as the BHSE goes, it is a hybrid amp with tubes in the output stage, so I'm thinking that I'll be able to influence the sound to my desire…but most on the BHSE thread are saying that there isn't much influence when rolling tubes on the BHSE??? I had the Lyr and it was also a hybrid, and found it had nice influence on the sound when rolling tubes. Although I have no experience with the BHSE yet I'm still thinking rolling the tubes will have a nice influence on the sound, but other know better than I do who already own the BHSE, but then again we all hear differently so I'll have to wait and hear for myself.

That's odd, I've always believed that hybrid tube amps, had the tubes on the input stage, at least, that's the case with my Musical Fidelity X-CAN V-2.

Thnx guys for the comments.
It's nice to listen to rs1i every now and then to contrast what deeper cups can do for you.

I don't care how many headphones or in ear monitors I acquire, either out of curiosity or percieved synergism with my gear, I still reach for my beloved Grado RS1i's to add emotion to my listening session. My most neutral headphone I have right now is the AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition hp (I ended up getting the K712 which has a warmer character for balance). I have also been immensely enjoying my Noble Savants iem's for their balanced forwardness. It is when I wanna feel emotionally involved with my music though, that I reach for my Grado's. The RS1i can sound etched at times (mostly with poor recordings), presents with a soft mid-bass hump to my ears too,  but the way that vocals are projected and how alive instrumentation sounds with the Grado's is so intoxicating. The RS1i can sound both grand yet intimate in such a natural way. I also appreciate that even though some sibilance can be detected with some vocals there is a complete lack of a grain to how vocals are shown.
