Westone UM3X Thread

UM3X will be next IEM list too...lol

How do the low end compare with IE8 which I own now? I read through 14 pages, to conclude what I get is bass slightly less than IE 8 at the first bass knob. Mid is more detail, clean and clearer, more forward than IE8. High end is little recessed, less sparkly than IE8, but better than SE 530 a lot. Overall spectrum is smooth. Less soundtage than IE8, but better with seperation and placement.

Seems to me UM3X is alike to CK 100, but with better low end and bass. Sounds perfect to me if all are true

In another comparison point with SE530. Not sure if it was maybe Voltage or Jinx but somebody described SE530 as sort of a wall of sound like being at a live rock concert. This is a good description and the overall presentation is set back just a little bit, just like a concert would be but it's very well done. UM3X is a little more up front and in your face...more intimate, a little more refined sounding and the treble is undisputably superior to SE530. That's the comparison in a nutshell.

but i think um3x bass is more than ck 100, also low end is fuller

The UM3X is the best IEM ever made. I feel bad for people who don't have it!

Hehe. Best is subjective but it was more of a jab at mark for telling Spyro he hates him for saying how good it is.

mark - I'm telling ya....sell all of your IEM's and a bunch of cd's and go buy UM3X. You can't go wrong. I am really a fan of both SE530 and TFPro and UM3X is without question a better IEM. improvement in the 20-25% range which, to me is a big improvement. I'll base my 6 year Head-Fi reputation on my comments about this IEM as far as trying to be as honest as possible without being a fanatic. If you were to search my initial TFPro and W3 comments I didn't care for the IEM's much at first and kind of warmed up to them after a week or two. I love UM3X right out of the box.

Each post I am trying to keep in mind the whole new toy, FOTM angle but I really like the way this sounds. With every other IEM I have bought and loved, I always left the door open thinking I would sell it if something else came up that intrigued me but I can't ever imagine parting with this IEM. I feel like I have entered "custom" territory but I know it's a universal. I want to hear from someone that has heard both ES3X and UM3X. I'm guessing UM3X is incredibly close in SQ moreso than TFPro10 to UE10.

I'm also anxious to hear more people's views on this IEM. I can't imagine people saying they simply don't like the sound of it. If you do your homework (regarding the sound sig you are looking for) and buy this IEM I would imagine the return rate is going to be incredible low because no universal is as accurate, balanced and easier on the ears with such a full sound.

....minor update on the bass. I just switched to the larger complys which I think are considered the "regular" size. Holy crap. Definitely more bass but hardly anything taken away from the treble. UM3X do NOT have any less bass than TFPro or SE530. With these slightly larger complys it's pretty big and slams pretty hard.

Yeah, i knew UM3X has more bass based on multiple reviews. No, i dont think so. Sacrificing superior fit just for more bass on UM3X? No thanks. FYI, i tried UM2 before and have problem with their design.

85% volume on an ipod with 16 ohm impedance and the high sensitivity of the IE8s? Are you sure you don't have volume limiter or something?
