Are those CX 6 the same as the IE6? I have a pair of IE7s coming in, hope they live up to expectations.

They definitely should man. For me, they are living past my expectations after a reasonable amount of burn in.

@wayne.marcus67: What I meant by then fitting like customs is that when I put them in my ears, they fit the curves of my bottom ears and really hold each of the earpieces very sturdily in my ears, resulting in a constant seal that is very hard to break. Obviously Customs/custom tips are going to give you more comfort, but for a universal, the IE7s really exceeded my expectations as far as fit goes. Maybe in a year's time I'll have enough of an impulse to go with customs

Since this is IE7 vs PFE. I gonna post my thought here
I just bought IE7 listen and burn in now, I found none of the tips come with the package fit my ear especially my left ear. never have such problem with PFE on silicon, L Comply or Shure Olive. the only tips that fit my ear and IE7 is the silicon tips from my first IEM JVC FX-66. However this tip provide nearly no isolation. I am ordering some T400 and hope they work.

Really? I'm sorry to hear that...must have been a bad first impression lol. I have always had trouble with my left ear as well, but more the opposite. The PFE would fit, but would get squeezed out by my ear from time to time.

Hopefully you can get your IE7s to play well with your ears, they are really nice phones.

eBay.co.uk Shop - lelong auction: Double Flange Silicone Earbuds:

Alright, so after more than 250 hours of burn in, I thought I should update this thread and post the changes and what I have noticed.

Biggest change has to be soundstage/instrument separation. Things sound farther away than they did out of the box and with some burn in. It sounds more like being at a concert now rather being in the band's garage.

Bass has really toned itself. Much more refined. It did lose a bit of the thumpyness that I did like, but oh well. It made up for it by being more detailed, like the PFE's bass.

So for a kind of final word to my "review": I love these things. It has everything I am looking for in an IEM...at least until I grow a big enough pair to plunker down for some customs.

Ok my wife has officially taken my PFEs. I gave her the Turbines which she liked. Then immediately gave her the IE 7 which was burning in. She like them more and said the Turbines had too much bass and not much else. The IE 7 she said resolved strings better.

I was burning the IE 7 in so gave her the PFE to listen while cooking. She immediately said she loved those more than the IE 7.

I put the IE 7 back to burn-in. She came to me and said she is keeping the PFE because they are so comfortable and don't feel like she is wearing earphones...and she loves the sound (gray filters).

Good thing I like the IE 7. It's not a bad trade for allowing me to buy them in the first place.

She wanted me the send the IE 7 back unopened because J&R wouldn't take returns on IEMs. Now she can't give me a hard time for buying them.

She has been listening non stop for 2+ hours.. the typical Phonak Bug. I have never seen her listen to earphones this much before....
