Thanks for the tips! Good to know it's a solid option to go with the Ortofon line. The black one might be a bit outside the budget and the thought of it costing more than the whole turntable is a bit weird. 
How do you think the different stylus shapes affect the wear on the records? I have read the elliptical is the least corroding one. Red for example is elliptical but black and bronze are something different.

Not sure on the shape question. 
 
If I weren't planning on a major upgrade cart wise I'd definitely be considering the Black.

Von Branden. For fans of Khold, Bethlehem and Enochian Crescent... at least that's what they remind me of. The video clip is very cool as well. Autre and thought provoking. Check it out if you like mid tempo black metal with a heavy melancholic vibe and German lyrics.
 
The label says to check it out if "you like bands like ALCEST, EMPEROR, DEINONYCHUS, LUNAR AURORA, EWIGHEIM and MY DYING BRIDE." I can't say I agree but there you go. :)

My German is a tad rusty and the vocals were a touch too rammstein but that was powerful! I understood enough to get the idea at least, melancholy doesn't begin to describe that

New Omnium Gatherum is pretty sweet. Last album was great.

I actually went ahead and ordered the Ortofon 2M Black. Because black is the new pink. I feel like a crazy person now.
 
Edit: And also, today I got the fabulous Chelsea Wolfe album Ἀποκάλυψις and Cobalt's Gin on vinyl. Gin's first disc is unfortunately pretty warped but luckily not audibly too much.

Chelsea Wolfe is becoming a huge favourite of mine. I found a copy of her covering a burzum track which was kinda sweet and dare I say pretty damn metal...

You seem to like Avant stuff in which case you should absolutely check out Andy Winter's new album that hits on the 22nd. I got and advanced copy and it's great Avant Metal.

As for the Black...Don't feel bad. Part of my Tax return is going towards a Dynavector XX-2. 2k is gonna hurt...but with a new phono stage and cart my vinyl playback will reach a new level entirely.
