  New Enslaved in march!

In Times will be the title of the thirteenth studio album by Norwegian progressive extreme metallers Enslaved. Hand-painted artwork is by long-time collaborating artist and “sixth ENSLAVED member” Truls Espedal.
The album will be released on March 6 (Europe), 9th (UK) and 10th (N. America) via Nuclear Blast Records.
ENSLAVED guitarist & composer Ivar Bjørnson shares the following about the band’s latest creation:...
“I was so deep into the songs and ideas for such a long time (or have my head so far up my own a**, if you prefer more direct language) that it is hard to have any ‘opinions’ about them that is anything else than the high-flying mumbo-jumbo of the introvert song-smith. The songs are extensions of my inner and outer life, the thoughts I am aware of having, as well as those that lie too deep to register in everyday consciousness. The songs are the resounds of grandiose altered states and mundane tiny micro-events. In addition, they are, of course, also the result of inspiration from other music and art. I do think this new album is the most consistent body of work we have so far: It incorporates our ‘blacker’ past with our influences from prog rock, our present sense of absolute freedom, and the joy of being in this band, if that makes any sense… Ha, ha, ha. It is higher in energy, more aggressive, yet more beautiful and subtle. It simply sounds inspired.”

The track listing for In Times is:

01 – Thurisaz Dreaming
02 – Building With Fire
03 – One Thousand Years Of Rain
04 – Nauthir Bleeding
05 – In Times
06 - Daylight

The new album’s total running time is fifty-three minutes.
Main recordings for In Times took place at Duper Studios to Solslottet Studio in Bergen, Norway with additional recordings sessions at Conclave & Earshot Studios (presided over by ENSLAVED members Larsen and Ice Dale), and Ivar Bjørnson’s Peersonal Sound Studios. Additional experimentation and sonic exploration was conducted deep in the woods of Valevåg south of Bergen where a mobile studio recorded additional sounds.
In Times was produced by band members Ivar Bjørnson, Grutle Kjellson & Herbrand Larsen together with Iver Sandøy. Mixing was completed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.

So, I'm pissed. Furious even!  Electric Wizard is playing close to me, April 17th at Slim's in San Francisco. I would totally go. They are one of my top stoner doom bands. I got the debut back in 1995 when it was released.

But, A S S H A T scalpers bought all the tickets and are now selling them on Stubhub for $150 a piece. What total bull$hit.

Sadly, I only have room for one Black Metal Homo.

Watched this 40 minute concert in full the other night. Before the DVD came out the show was impounded and not released. It ended coming out years later. I look at it as the final show.

Well, dating a male fashion designer doesn't exactly fit in with the kvlt misanthropic Satanic image. That kind of burst my bubble when I read about that....Gorgoroth being my first real BM foray. Before that, I was pretty convinced of their orthodoxy. In general, though, I believe the music either stands on it's own merits or not irrespective of lifestyle choices that concern me not. Most metalheads I know didn't throw away thier Judas Preist albums.

Fusing electronica and metal is an interesting proposition. I'm not sure it's been definitely done. Altars of Plagues gave it a good stab. Why the Heathens Rage is really an electronic album with a BM theme. BM permeates the whole album. But, It's too techno to be metal and too Satanic themed to really be EDM. But, I like it as something totally left of field. The Satanic lyrics really come through in an electronic format vs being buried in the mix. The guy has serious interest in BM. A gay satanic electronic BM album. Talk about out of the box. Kind of crazy.

Well it just shows that Gaahl does not fit the understood norm of what we expect a Black Metal musician to be like. When Burzum was locked up guitars were not allowed so me made synth records. Even though they have that dreamy trance like quality of later Burzum, I would guess they are not considered favorites of his fans. I own one Burzum ambient CD and never play it.

Synths can be completely infused into Black Metal. If we are open minded to allow the creativity to become whatever it may. You also have a group of fans believing that the second wave is over and Black Metal has ended.

Even with the above statement said, it is up to the listener to determine if Black Metal is ongoing in the second wave, though with bands like Watain, I still think it is even in original form.

Streaming Dark Space 111.1. As someone who still purchases CDs on Amazon, local Record and Tape Trader store, etc.,I wish I could find a CD version available vs the MPW3 download available.

I like a hard copy for my car, take on a trip, throw in a cheap CD player if I want to at work, etc. Kind of old school that way-even though I could just burn a download. I have a fantasy if there is an apocalypse, my CDs might survive on a desert island...oh, but I would need a power source.

In Sept of 2014 they only made 500 copies of Darkspace 111.1.

But........I don't know if these are it. Darkspace 1 and 11 are still for sale on EBay.

Never heard of band you mention but how much would the tickets normally sell for?

Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the law...gaahl is a better 'satanist' than many. Misanthropy is not required...just encouraged

Really electronics and BM were married with Bathory and his synth soundscapes...

Agreed. I'm just poking fun. I'm really pretty progressive when it comes to sexual orientations. I just had this grim and frostbitten image of him. I'd probably think the same thing if he dated Taylor Swift or Selena Gomez

I thought his vocal work on Incipit Satan, Twilight of the Idols and especially Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam were terrific. That was one of the better metal albums from '06 IMO. Gorgoroth and Marduk were two of the BM bands I first started listening to and I still think he and Mortuus are two of the more skilled BM vocalists. Twilight of the Idols,  Ad Majorem Sathanas , Plague Angel, Rom and Wormwood are some of my favorite established BM albums from that time period with a nod to Marduk as being in the forefront for me until more recent USBM have produced some really interesting music for me-Ashes Against The Grain was an important album for me at the time in terms of my growing interest in the genre.
