So how come the IE8, TF10, and Westone 3 get mentions often but not the SE530?

Maybe I'm just stupid and I'm not seeing the SE530 as often as it really is being mentioned but it seems like the Westone 3 and TF10 have a pretty solid following and the IE8 is pretty close.

Perhaps the SE530 does have a very solid following but I'm just coming across it?

The IE8 and Westone 3 appear a lot in threads at the moment as they're both pretty new on the block.

The SE530s have been around a long time, so haven't really been discussed so much recently, but they've been discussed at great length on these forums in the past. Use the search function and you'll find lots of threads realting to the Shures.

Same boat here. They've been around but I got mine this week and love em. Get a pair, close your eyes and repeat after me Sweeeet...

It's natural for the new kids on the block (Westone 3 and such) to get lots of attention. (You would have thought Iphones gave sexual favors from the initial press.) I went with the SE530s because a lot of people give them very good ratings. Other makers seemed to be a little more cultish (etys, westones, klipsch, etc.).

Love mine so far. I have made the tiniest adjustment to my Cowon D2's output, setting BBE to 1 to bring out just a tad more in the high range, and the Bass to +1 for a bit of a boost. I have not tried other foams/sleeves yet, so I may back off those settings depending on how other foams work.

Lol, Shure users aren't cultish? I was actually thinking Shure, Westone, and Etymotic owners seem like the most cultish from what I've been reading.

Maybe SE530 users just get on with listening to and enoying their music, rather than playing the "my IEMs are so much better than your IEMs" game that's rife on these forums.

I'm with Digivate.
I heard plenty of others, and I keep coming back to my HD25 and SE530.
Both are very involving with all kinds of music

Personally I feel that the reason for all the Westone fandom is that they've been promised for so long, almost like an amp from Xin--now they're out and lots of people are raving about them. I read the same raves about Sleek, V-Moda Vibes, Klipsch and Triple Fis.

Now wait a few weeks or months and you'll start to hear negaitves on the Westies as well--already there are some little signs of negativity on cable issues, eartips and maybe some others I haven't read.

Personally, I like my Klipsch and Etys; not to the point of cultdom but just sonically satisfied. would still, though, like to try the SE530 WITHOUT committing all that money. Might someday look for a used pair.
