If you really want them: AKG K319, I can buy them for you and ship them to America, but obviously you'll have to pay me for shipping too

Background play

This is very underrated and misunderstood category. Many pursue the best SQ while choosing an earbud primarily for background use indeed. Later they find themselves unsatisfied. What is the heck? Background listening has its own specific:
 1. It is often quiet. Otherwise, loud music will detract you from reading at home or monitoring the traffic around you at the street. So headphone should play well at low volumes. Typically, it has to have emphasized bass and treble.
 2. SQ should NOT be very good, neither in terms of accuracy nor in terms of fun. Otherwise the music will involve you, detracting your attention off your primary task (say reading or writing).
 3. SQ should not be bad at the same time. Crappy sound does also detract, especially if you are audiophile (are not you?). I prefer silence to any offensively sounding gear.
 4. Sound should be comfortable and relaxed, say warm, without too many details, dynamics and so on.

These requirements are not easy to meet and I know few cans which do that well – MDR-F1, Koss UR-40 and …

PK2! It is the clear winner in background category, both for walks and reading/writing.

Quality piece of writing! I am insta buying these buds

and might finally end my quest into head-fi. This is precisely what I want in audio listening.

Though I do have one question: How come the PK2 are called the "background buds" and also called "analytic". Does seem like the opposite to me. Because I hate sibilance and poorly pronounced "sshh" and "tthh" and I am afraid an analytical bud might reveal those too much. Would the PK2 synergize well with the iPod classic 7th gen?

I do not know about this synergy. RE: "analytic" - who called PK2 so?

Are you telepath? I am reviewing some new earbuds indeed. They beat OK2 and CM700 and have unique sound sig with luxury bass. More later.

I based that statement on the different opinions in this topic: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/y...d-help-422250/

I am stilling leaning more to PK2 than PK3 probably because they are expensiver... But also I mostly listen to voices and PK2 seems to be good at that regardless!

kostalex, are these new buds low impedence, how are they comparing to ok1 in term of sq and soundstadge, are they as comfortable as yuin buds? i need to make a urgent decision.

I am not sure on impedence. Sensitivity is high, they sound well with no amp. OK1 is better in terms of overall SQ, soundstage size is on par. Comfort is the same to PK series and better than OK series.
