Well, I have ald intend to acquire a lot of high-end audio equipment in my house, but my house has really, really, (I can't emphasize this enough) really crappy power. I don't actually know when the wiring was installed, but the house itself is 113 years old.

I once connected my laptop charger, my maxxed headroom desktop, and my desk lamp to the same outlet, and the headroom was cutting out. I had to find another outlet for the lamp. So, the conditioner would probably need to have a built-in battery to assist it. I'll be powering a class A power amp that could draw as much as much as 260W, depending on how I bias it, a DAC, a large and powerful desktop computer with a big monitor, a laptop, and a piano keyboard, conceivably all at once, so this thing can't be wimpy, It also needs to supply very, very clean power.

Are there any designs out there that would fit the bill? If not I could probably design one myself, but I'm pretty new to this stuff and don't have a ton of time on my hands. I'd prefer to copy an existing design. I can't afford a commercial product.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for all the info, guys! I've been meaning to talk to my landlord about having our house rewired. I'll do that, but I still want to build this power conditioner. I'll be doing some research and then ordering parts soon.

the wiring is posibly a fire hazzered if it's that bad. I would get it replaced. Esp. if it's the stuff with rubber or cloth outer cover which will burn if the wire gets hot (wheras the moden stuff melts and gets quite hot before doing so).

You can pretty much forget all the previous posts and should pay attention to the above one. If you have problems with the landlord a 'courtesy inspection' from the fire department will solve that. In the meantime a small investment in smoke detectors may be advised. 'Dead' Silence may result.otherwise.
