Are audiophiles Cat Person or Dog Person?

I have Magneplanars. Therefore, a cat would scratch them and a dog would knock them over. Otherwise, I'd have a dog.

All dogs don't bark & are noisy.. My mothers new dog doesn't bark at all.. Unless she senses danger or is being walked & a stranger gets too close.. I love dogs to death.. Lovew to get licked & play with them.. Dogs are like little kids.. Cats are like grumpy old people.. Most of the time..

Cats shed, claw, and chew up headphone gear.

Besides, who can say no to this cuteness?

I actually like cats and dogs about the same, but I don't want pets; especially cats, messing up my gear, especially the tower speakers which look like a cross between a scratching post and a handy perch to sleep upon.

And every dog we ever had left tons of "grattle" producing fur all over the house.

...yeah; and so did the cats.

So right now we happen to be petless, but hi-fi stuff ain't really the culprit.

Love both of them, I've got to say. My wife and I have two cats, about 3 years old. But as SOON as we are in a apartment/house where we could realistically have a dog, we'll be getting 2 litter mates first thing.
Cats are fabulous, but so are dogs.

There are something about dogs, mostly big ones, that I detest. They're unintelligent, slobbery, smelly and they constantly need your attention. I need a pet that if you don't pay attention to them for a few minutes they'll just go off and sleep, i.e. a cat. They're there for you if you want some company but if you don't want them around they can do their own thing. I'm not a total dog-hater, they just annoy me.

Cats by a landslide for me. We had dogs when I was a kid, but cats and my Dad didn't get along too well. (My Mom eventually did get a cat, and secretly my Dad liked Miss Kitty.)

We now have three, and two of them are very friendly and sociable. The other one is very shy, and hides when strangers are around.

Cosmo:

Cosmo and I bonded instantly at the shelter. He was four months old, and he just sat in the middle of his cage and looked at me as if to say, "About time you got here! Let's go!". He's my guy. Follows me around the house like a dog, and usually sleeps at the foot of the bed. Actuall, I usually wake with both Abby and Cosmo on my side of the bed, lying on my feet.

Christmas
Cosmo is our big cat. Everyones gotta have at least one big cat, right? (He weighs as much as the other two cats combined.)

Abby:
She was the sick one. Definitely a hell raiser now, though. She's half Cosmo's size, but that doesn't stop her from attacking him.

Truffles:
The senior cat. Loves my wife, tolerates me.

That doesn't sound like most the big dogs I've been around

Well there are some mastifs that drool....but most don't. My current pound puppy, lab mix, is the most intellegent animal I've had thus far. You can ask for specific things, and he'll go find them and bring them back to you. If cats know any words, they certainly are good pretending as though they don't understand you

Dogs are also pack animals....so I notice that mine likes me to be near him, but that I don't have to be paying attention to him. He stays very clean and doesn't roll around in crap the way a few dogs do. In fact, I think he smells better then cats (I always thought cats smelled weird because of all that fishy breathed slober they clean themselves with). Good thing I'm allergic to cats now....I've got an excuse to be biased against them

*edit*, But I do admit, beerguy0, your second pic of Abby and Cosmo is very cute
