I know this has been done before but what is your dream, dream, rig? As in a no cost, balls to the walls, speaker or headphone rig. I think I could stand to live with a modest one like this:

Esoteric P-01 -> Esoteric G-0s -> Esoteric D-01 (2) -> Boulder 2010 -> Chord SPM-14000 (2) -> Avalon Acoustics Sentinel

-> ->
-> -> ->

Big MBL Radialstrahler speakers (and a big enough room to put them in!), a humungous valve power amp or perhaps some Halcro gear. Front end? - damn, I can't see the keyboard for all my drooling.

I remember looking at houses last year and just thinking about audio.

I went to a 4 bedroom house and honestly I could afford it, I would sleep in the smallest bedroom and keep the master for the big speaker rig..I mean tear down the walls and hire a acoustic company to come in and build the perfect room, oh the gear in this room would be the biggest and baddest. the other two rooms would be smaller setups like a small vinyl/horn/set amp set up.

then I woke up and thought "might be able to get the house but afterwards won't afford any gear"..also a 4 bedroom house would be stupid for a single guy..

then I woke up from that dream and realized I could not even afford the house..lol

hey this is a dream setup rite? and of course the most important part is the room so..hehe

Actually I am getting to my dream setup slowly. I might target a Meridian 808 cdp next and some used v12r mono cary amps later on. speakers I cant really think of rite now cause I dont know the room I will be doing this all in, in the future. if I could buy any speakers it would probably be Rays set just because..I offered but no luck.

Not sure about source, but I think for ultimate, it would have to be a dedicated music serving pc (maybe MAC, for ease of use) outputting to a stellar DAC. The amps would be some enormous Cary Monoblocks, which I saw in Stone Audio a year or so ago, and then front end would be the k1000. That'd do me just fine.

For speakers, if money was no object, I'd probably end up with some of those luricrous fibreglass horns in silly colours, or maybe the B&W nautilus. Certainly NOTHING in a square box.

Same here, a pair of Indogo Red Avantgarde Trio speakers will do me just fine. Plus a pair of tube monoblocks, a nice preamp, and a Transrotor Gravita. Add a nice cd player to the mix and I'll die a happy man.

Lol, your rig and Sleestack's rig make me drool. Both your actual rigs are what many of us lust and dream after.

Within the realms of realism dream rig ;D - quad stacked (2x2) Quad ESL2905 electrostatics

with Quad subs behind

and a Precide Kithara on each side.
kithara1.png

Each one of the 14 speakers (yes 7 per channel) running from a Quad 909 monoblock.
11.jpg

Stick a Quad 99 pre-amp in there between the 909s and my TOTALLY silent PC with Chord64 DAC, my Meridian CDP and 0o0o0o, lets have a Transrotor Artus for the vinyl.
TransRotor2.jpg

Not forgetting the AKAI 747 reel to reel.
c3_12.JPG

The maxed ES-1 for my Quad panelled jecklin float electrostatics and the infinately long room to eliminate the electrostatic backwave.

Id like a very comfortable chair and a butler to do the VPI thing with all my records for me too. Thanks. If I werent doing this essay at the last minute, I'd probably put all that together in photoshop to see how it looked...

Transroto Artus + Manley Steelhead + Dynamight (all interior wiring Nordost Valhalla) + Grado PS-1 recabled with Valhalla in balanced configuration.

Speakers: Wilson Alexandria II's with some Edge signature one monoblocks pushing them.

I've always dreamed of owning a pair of Threshold amps, but I would settle for a Conrad Johnson preamp and amp and a pair of B&W 800D diamond series.

Why limit it to audio gear? If I had the cash, I'd keep a string quartet and a jazz combo around the house. Seriously. I'd work out something with local university music students to rotate in and out every night as a paying gig. Nothing beats the real thing.

Throw in this for good measure:

Along with this:

And wiring by AudioQuest [sigh - but I do get a LARGE discount].

And to top it off:

And we are all set.

Now for the good part - by the end of 2007 [should we manage to finish up the audio room] - should all this move from the dream realm to this one.

plus an extention to my house with a recording studio and venue. not forgetting having Neurosis living there (running the studio, and playing live for when the fancy takes me.)

Ok dude, aside from the fact you want to run a zillion 909s, how do you manage to have a TOTALLY silent PC?

If I run my laptop on it's lowest CPU clock it'll stop its fans and be cooled passively. It's pretty much dead quiet then.
