Just listen to it naturally, with Jazz or Classical music as best choices (since they don't focus on any particular range).

Don't play your phones continuously for more than 5 hours on end. That's gonna damage the drivers.

Have Alessandro started incorporating all the improvements that the new e series introduced? Such as improved injection molding material, better cables etc and not just the new drivers?

I'm interested in either the MS1e or MS2e and would rather not miss out on these improvements grado made by choosing Alessandro! Thanks all

I just bought two pair of MS1's from Alessandro intending to use the headbands for two V6 Magnum builds, and figured that someone might be interested in the drivers. And frankly, I wanted to find out if the MS1's were as good as I had heard.  They are. I liked the MS1 so well that I decided to keep one pair as is.  They are an incredible value, and movement upward from here is no doubt a lesson in diminishing returns.

Before I purchased, I wrote Alessandro asking, "Are the current MS1 headphones based on the e-series Grado drivers, or the older i-series?" They responded, " They are the most current design."  Not sure if that specifically answers your question, but for sure the drivers are based on the e series.

I want to buy an MS1, but which should I get on their website? They have it listed as:

Music Series One w/mini original - $99

Music Series One w/mini 2009 version - $109

What's the difference?

the differences are the cups, the original cups are flat and the e series protrude out alot more. i personally think the originals look much better and the sound difference in the cups are probably negligible. (go through the pictures on this page and youll see the differences)

The 2009 version is the "e" model? I thought those only came out just earlier this year or last year?

this is the difference the flat ones are the original, i'd say there isnt much difference otherwise, you could always email them and ask. http://www.head-fi.org/image/id/6222519/width/400/flags/LL">

Thanks, I emailed them asking about any sonic differences.

If there are none, I'll just pick whichever I think looks better. Right now it's a toss up.

Is the flat design what the older grados looked like before the "e" series?

The "2009" version are the same as the Grado "i" versions as they went through the same changes, i.e. SR80 vs SR80i.

e.g. my MS1 "2009" version with the rest of the family
