The HD650s are great but it's time to try a pair of Beyerdynamic T1, they have everything that the HD650s don’t have, IMO.

Lol wrong thread my friend

Jokes aside... I tried the T1 @ a meet... and for me, I found nothing impressive about them at that price range. If I was to pay that much, I'd go HD800... easily, no contest. There is nothing (from my memory with both @ the meet) that the T1 can do that beats the HD800.

The sound signature of the T1 is more close to HD650 than the HD800 to HD650.

Haha, precisely why I'd choose the HD800 instead

since the MSRP is pretty much the same range for the two.

Then you will miss the beautiful sound signature of the HD650.

Pair the HD650's with a Bottlehead Crack running a Tung-sol 5998 and a RCA clear top and listen again my friend.

T1's are excellent phones I love mine but holy smoke does the 650 sound good with the Crack, it starts to reach into T1 territory for sure. I still use my 650's daily. My other half prefers the 650 over the T1 it really depends on what you like to listen to.

Edit thought I would add for balance the T1's qualities sneak up on you it would be extremely hard to get a handle on how good they actually are with a quick listen they are not wow factor phones but very neutral, accurate and fast which is something you either love or hate and can be very picky on what they are paired with but when you get it right they are very good indeed.

+1.

The only reason I'd even consider buying the DT880 vs. the HD600/650 is because it's cheaper. If the T1 were the price of the HD650, it might be competitive. But it's too close in price to the HD800, and the HD800 kicks its butt, IMHO.

I've been listening to my 650 with my new HiFi-M8 today.  I must say, this is my best pairing yet with these phones.  I would love to A/B this "portable" option against the many budget options touted in this thread.  I have a feeling this little beauty will hang well with all of them....

Hi, how is HiFi-M8 compared to DACMini CX? Which is better?

I think the AKG K701 and Beyer DT880 are way on the bright side of neutral, while the HD650 is more natural sounding. To each his own.

Edit: Although I must say, the most neutral headphone I've heard (and I know many will argue with me on this) is the HD800. Even against the T1 and HE500.

Yes they are on the bright side, and for me it cause fatigue on "not so long" listening session and maybe can damage ears too, because if I insist on listening while my ears is fatigue, I found a little discomfort (read: hurt) on my ears drums...  So why buy headphones that its sound we can't enjoy completely ? There are many opinions out there, some says HD 650 veiled or this or that, but I just find a headphone that my ears and "heart" can enjoy it completely 110% (--> means can cause eargasm on some songs), and I have found it.

No listening fatigue at all, no hurt on ear drums at all, maybe that little "veil" is used by Sennheiser to protect our ears..., although for me HD 650 just sound so neutral, and I don't notice any veil ...

For me the HD 800 soundstage is too wide, and HD 650 soundstage is just on perfect width and depth for me. The bass and vocal is more bodied on 650's too.

It is our luck that Sennheiser doesn't tag HD 650's price with HD 800's / 700's price tag

HD 650 - always singing always understanding what our ears want (not to forget the amps and dac it paired with ) super special thanks goes to the DAC and AMP it paired with
