Hello,

It seems I am not the only one who has paid Ken Law (Storm Digital) for a DAC and not received anything.

There are also several threads in which I and other users have posted messages. I would like to consolidate these into one where people who have paid and not received anything yet.

If you could please post a message to this thread if you fall into this category, and only post in this thread if you do fall into this category.

Other comments and suggestions are better suited in a new thread. If you could please state:

1. Your name
2. Your location
3. When you placed your order
4. If you could also state if Ken has told you if he has shipped your DAC, if yes, has he given you a tracking number?

All the best, and lets hope we get our DAC's soon.

Kind regards,

Anil K Solanki

1. John Clark
2. United Kingdom
3. 3rd April 2006
4. Not shipped

Hi everyone,

I have also ordered, paid for but not received my DAC from Storm-Digital. I know that there are a number of people in a similar position but it does appear to be at odds with Ken Laws initial position of being very helpful and informative. The more I think about this the more convinced I am that he is legitimate but has run into some sort of problem with his busines. If this is the case then I'm sure that everyone would accept this and would be prepared to wait until the problem is resolved BUT Ken needs to get in touch with all of these customers and let us know what the problem is and what he is doing to try and sort it out.
This silence is not the answer and is just aggrevating the situation
If anyone has heard from or spoken to Ken Law very recently please let us know and bring us up to date with what is going on.

1. KC Lim
2. Singapore
3. 8 April 06
4. Not shipped

I spoke to Ken several times in April and May, each time he would say the shipment would be made "next week", next Monday, etc.

Like the others, he was very fast to respond before I paid, but after that he would no longer answer e-mails, only when I called, and recently, not even that. Perhaps his modus operandi is to offer good and cheap products, ship to a few and reel the rest in. I am not convinced he runs a legit biz and has run into problems.

Anil, did you check if that tracking no. is a valid one by checking the carrier's website?

Thanks
KC Lim

I got a hold of him - he is still sick, but he assures me that they will be going out in the next few days. Only time will tell -- if you wish to wait a week or two later and see what's going on, that'd be great; otherwise, feel free to do what you need to do. I know you guys are aggravated that you've had to wait so long, and there honestly is no excuse for his behaviour, but if possible give him the benefit of the doubt for a little while longer and see if he can put up to his end of the bargain. He said he will ship Anil's DAC on Monday, and the same for the rest of the AWOL DACs. If he doesn't, then do whatever is necessary.

I still do think he is legitimate, and 2-3 months was what elnero and Patu had to wait (with constant persuasion on my part to get Ken to ship). Again, I know this is unacceptable, and I'm sure he's trying, but whether he's trying hard enough remains to be seen.

Getting a list together is great, as I can shove it in his face and tell him to ship these ones ASAP.

I just phoned to confirm again - he will try to ship on Friday, and I basically gave him an ultimatum to ship on Monday (next Monday it seems?), at the latest. He said that 10 DACs are all here, and are ready to go.

The ultimatum was - either ship on Monday or your business is dead.

Adrian

You are really great!

Thank you for going out of your way to help. I really appreciate this effort you are putting in, and I am sure the others in the same boat would agree with me.

I will wait as you have recommended.

I owe you one. Let me know if you are ever in Singapore, dinner is on me, and we can listen to my D02 (hopefully).

Thanks again
KC

Like I said in a previous post, its great that there is someone like Akwok to help all these customers out but what if he wasnt around to bail Ken out? Seems like theyd be SOL... Im just at a loss for words that its taking the persuasion of Akwok to get Ken to ship these DACs out. Did he even have any intention of getting them shipped out in any timely manner before Akwok let him know that his customers were very unhappy? If he's having problems getting parts in, or if he's sick then why can't he just say so instead of making all these people guess what the problem is? Whats going to happen after he gets the immediate group of customers' DACs shipped? Akwok cant be around to convince him to ship everytime he gets an order. In my opinion, he needs to make some sort of formal statement regarding what exactly his problems have been and what customers can expect from him in the future... I know I'm not buying one of these DACs unless I read something like this first

Along with everyone else in this situation I would like to say a BIG thank you to Adrian for putting in this effort to get Ken Law up and running again. It would be a shame if Ken and his products disappeared for ever as the man has a great talent and with other interesting developments in the wings I think we should give him as much encouragement as we can.

I don't know what Ken's problems are but he really does need to get himself a business plan as it seems to me that he is trying to run the whole show by himself, no wonder he is sick.

Anyway Adrian, I for one, want to say thank you for all your time and effort on our behalf.

Cheers. John (UK)

I'm talking with Ken in MSN at the moment. He sent this picture me and said these are ready to ship next week.

So just a little bit more patience.

It's unfortunate that people have had to wait so long but outside of anil's case (which I assume had some extenuating circumstances) the wait times aren't out of line with what I and other's waited to get ours (I'll admit I was getting a bit antsy to get mine as well). I'm not going to make excuses for Ken because I don't fully know his situation but I thought I would mention that in the past I've seen this type of thing with small audio companies just getting off the ground. I honestly don't think it's anything malicious it's just that these guys are techies/designers first and business people second. I think sometimes they get themselves in a little over their heads and things take a little longer than initially expected and not being sales/business people they sometimes don't handle it with the customers in the best way they could. Ultimately though as these companies develop and gain some experience and with some patience on the initial buyers parts these kinds of delays are usually minimized or at the very least better explained up front so the buyer knows what to expect. So hopefully with a little patience on the more recent buyers parts these delays will get sorted and stated wait times will be more accurate at the time of ordering.

I agree wholeheartedly with Elnero. I think that most of us realize that Storm Digital is just a small business and I for one don't mind waiting for as long as it takes to get the product I ordered but Ken should realize that if he starts off with a new customer with quick responses and information, then that person then places a lot of trust in him and commits to buying. Then Ken's responses become fewer or cease completely. This leaves the customer thinking all sorts of things and usually not good things. We all understand that on a start-up business like this not everything is going to run smoothly and if you don't accept this then you shouldn't be ordering products from Ken. The whole problem here is that Ken Law does not keep his customers informed. He should tell them if he is waiting on a supplier or that he is unwell, we will understand and stay with him until he sees the project through. It's when the silence and then the doubt creeps in that all this stuff rears it's head.
I hope that all of us waiting our DACs will come back and post more positive feedback about Ken and his products as it would be a real shame for future prospective customers to read these posts and be frightened off with the result that Ken Law and Storm Digital are no longer available to any of us.

John (UK)
