hd25-1 impressions thread

 Awesome deal!

I went to the hd 25 from a modded SR - 60 (damped and vented with bowls). The grado is still smoother overall especially the mids and vocals, but the senn does everything else better.. Totally obliterates the SR - 60 on bass. Way more definition everywhere without being slow.

Btw, mine should be here next week. Scored a nice deal for 125$, I'm just a bit worried how these will fill the shoes left by the Grado SR80i.

I'm thinking of getting a dac/amp preferably around 100$. How's the E10 with these? Anyone tried it?

The E10 is quite nice with the HD25's and so is the E7. Don't think you need much more than this.
I also went from the SR80i's to the HD25's.  Love at first listen and couldn't sell the Grado's fast enough.
Also went the HD600 to HD650's route.  Can't look back now.

My only owned Grado experience was 325i(have heard many models) Comparing the 325i to HD25 perhaps wasn't fair(price-wise) but the mids detail with the 325i was very easily superior to HD25 IMO. Even so, the HD25 was simply more fun and forgiving...and more comfortable,durable...and closed which I needed.  I do sometimes crave that Grado flavor.

True that.  SR325is is an all-around upgrade over HD25-1, except in soundstage depth where the Grado has absolutely zero and HD25 at least has a little.

I recabled my HD25's with the Moon Audio Silver Dragon IEM and the mid detail is pretty sweet.  Never heard the 325i's but a friend of mine had them (325i) and was totally impressed with my HD25's.

No doubt, they are impressive. I once tried mine with HD650 cable but without being able to compare quickly to stock I couldn't honestly say it sounded better. I've been using the stock.

Of course source and amp make a real difference although I can be happy listening plugged into a shuffle...just not after T1.

Just got the adidas hd 25 1 ii and they are incredible. Heavy metal has never sounded so good.

How do they compare with the Alessandro?

Quite different. The alessandro is very trebly and midrangey with little bass. I find the hd25 to be a more equal balance between the 3.

Does anyone else notice or feel that the velour pads changes the sound?

It does. It's almost like a new headphone. Mids come forward, bass is reduced, and some impact in the overall sound is lost..
I've been mucking around with blutak for a while, to see if i can bring the mids forward with pleathers

It sounds better with the pleathers. That is imo of course though.
