I love my pair. I vented (5 holes I think) and obviously added woodies and changed the headband. I love the sound , although I find that generally I like a more balanced sound, which has been solved after hours of fiddling with the Parametric EQ in J.River. I still turn off the EQ to get that Grado sound when I'm listening to certain types of music, like salsa and rock.

Just finished my new case for the O2 and ODAC and since it goes with the Grado's I thought it would be OK to post another shot

Beautiful job!

I purchased my 225's about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm having mixed results. I upgraded from a the SR60's. One issue seems to be the bass. While more defined it seems to be really lacking in comparison. I'm wondering about some of the modifications that you guys have done and if that's the route to go (links?). I really enjoy the mids/highs and have discovered new things about old recordings but am surprised that the bass seems to lack the same conviction as the cheaper SR60's. Thoughts?

Tape mod!
But over all, I think the clarity and soundstage of the 225 is due to rolling off the bass, which is why they are a little lean.  I use the tape mod, sometimes a little bass boost @ 60 Hz.

I hated them for about a year, but now 75% of my listening is with the 225i's.  There's something addictive about these headphones

Odd, i find my 225's have better bass than the 80i or MS1's.  Its certainly much more clearly defined, so perhaps the fluffier low end on the 60's is being perceived as more bass?

Also agree with the tape mod, or as i have found aftermarket foam that is denser sounds much better, the pads really do make all the difference with Grados.

+1. I have yet to hear the 80s, but the 225 has my favorite bass out of any of the prestige cans. Not bloated, but very solid and textured.

Thanks, all. I will look into some resources for the tape mod (Youtube?)

No need. I just wrapped a single layer of electical tape around the outside of the pad.  So easy, even I could do it.
