I'm not sure; the 220uF nichicons seem to be very effective. From what I understand, increasing the capacitance (100uF -> 220uF) increases hum rejection but also increases gain. Having a gain increase may be undesireable in some circumstances; For me, though, on my HD600s, it sounds rather...

Wow. That worked. Like, really worked. Two Nichicon 220uF caps (I used axial vs radial) - and now, ALL hum on ANY 68FG or 6SN7 is GONE from my 336se. The only things I really have to ask are 1) Is this going to cause the amp to become less reliable down the line? 2) In other words...

Has anyone had success with this and the 336SE? -- Having trouble with mine; the bypass cap installation seems simple enough... 100-220uF in parallel with the cathode resistors; is this all it takes?

Well this is discouraging. Out of about 20 6SN7s, probably 11 of them hum monstrously, and 9 are silent. Out of 8 6F8Gs, one doesn't hum. Is this normal for this amp? I'd hate to send the thing back to China if it's somehow defective, but it seems like the 336SE is amazingly picky about...

So, a lot of folks have talked about the hum with the stock tubes in the 336SE... And indeed with the stock 6N8P, there was hum - though not a whole lot. I can get rid of the hum completely with RCA 6SN7GTBs; but - using an adapter and VT99/6F8Gs, the hum can be - lets just say - heard...

Well, I'm in Colorado... Kind of no-big-deal on the "newbie attack".. May be new here, but have been on plenty of forums in the past.. So it's no big thing... Just hoping to find some folks who have experienced these new amps first hand... I haven't done enough research in the past before...
