Same here, iPhone SE2 iOS 17.4.1 FiiO KA5 Firmware 1.30, and everything works normally before and after the update to iOS 17.4.1. The brief interference/static is normal in my experience when not in airplane mode as the iPhone switches cell towers and happens with my other brand dongles. The...- White Hat Bob

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
So true. PWC did a deep dive on this years ago, and data showed that 83% of all acquisitions failed to increase overall net value. In my inside experience, most acquisitions happen (those without Jason's insight above) because the acquiring leadership team needs a story to tell the Board about a...- White Hat Bob

The FiiO BTR15 Portable Hi-Fi Bluetooth DAC/Amp - Now Available on Apos Audio
Exciting! Does the BTR15 do SPDIF out? I'd love more information about settings and options. Love the concept of the included plastic clip, what a clever solution to all the case/clip issues and preferences. Thanks for listening to your customers.- White Hat Bob

I want to echo thanks to @golfbravobravo and @Jason Stoddard for the Schiit Meet in North Carolina! Also, thank you @adydula, for the PassLabs HPA-1 and the DIY Class A amp. The fact that nothing is happening on the KA5 display when you plug in the KA5 is NOT how mine works. The display comes on for 5 sec (default, make sure yours is not set to display timeout to "0" but this should have been covered by the reset) whenever you plug the KA5 in. So I'm thinking either...- White Hat Bob

I have an iPhone SE(2020) and the KA5 works flawlessly. Perhaps the KA5 is in UAC1.0 mode for gaming. From FiiO "With the KA5 not connected to any device and off, press and hold the multifunction key. While holding the key, connect the KA5 to your desired device to enable UAC1.0 mode." iPhones...- White Hat Bob

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Wow, that is such a good take on Atmos and the whole sorry state of affairs on proprietary sound/music technology. Thanks so much for sharing AND releasing Syn, a non-proprietary surround sound option, which is the best possible approach to getting the truth out. You were right about MQA, and...- White Hat Bob

[RM3]FiiO Bluetooth Remote RM3 Is Officially Released!
I have the RM3 and am using it to control my FiiO M11 Plus ESS on the FiiO stand in the bedroom, and it doesn't make any clicking sound when I press the keys. I love that it's Bluetooth and doesn't require to be pointed in any way at the device you're controlling.- White Hat Bob

[RM3]FiiO Bluetooth Remote RM3 Is Officially Released!
Great stuff! Can the new RM3 remote work with the FiiO M11 Plus ESS? If so, do all functions work, or are there some limitations using it with M11 Plus ESS compared to the M17 or R7?- White Hat Bob

I completely agree; keep it near the RTP/airport, which is the geographic center of the Triangle! Remember, in addition to flying, people may well be driving in from the north (e.g., Virginia) and south (e.g., Georgia) on I-95 which is already 30 minutes east of the Triangle, and places further...- White Hat Bob

Regarding using other player apps (and assuming you're using Android) I've had very good luck and VERY good sound with the PowerAmp Player (https://powerampapp.com/) using the KA5 and 24/96 FLAC and 128 DSD files on my Samsung S23 phone. Extraordinary pairing. I've had my Dunu SA6 Mk II IEM for about a week now, and I'm pleased to report the Dunu pairs extraordinarily well with the FiiO KA5. When you engage the bass boost switches on each IEM (left and right), something magical happens with the KA5. The soundstage becomes truly...- White Hat Bob

I've been racking my brain trying to determine how the KA5 could be improved for the KA7 since the KA5 is already amazing for the size and price (please, not too much of a change of either with the KA7). Obviously, the KA7 can keep making the sound/filters better, and firmware updates via FiiO...- White Hat Bob

I think you're right; it's likely the THX op amps in the BTR7 are better suited to driving the Meze 109 Pro, which takes a bit more drive than my Focal Clear OG, hence our different experiences. Also using standard filters in your testing might also help explain. With the newer chips, such as...- White Hat Bob

Were you listening via 3.5mm SE or 4.4mm balanced? The BTR7 is stronger in SE than the KA5. But in Balanced, they are a much closer match. Also, did you try different filters on the KA5 (I like the Fast - LL), as they make a real difference in matching personal preferences with the KA5. I have...- White Hat Bob

Great thoughts... except for the MQA part. MQA is a bankrupt company with a shaky business future and a dubious technology. I would prefer FiiO save the money on the MQA'a exorbitant licensing fee and invest that money in better sound through buying the best DAC chips, Amp chips, shielding, and...- White Hat Bob
