Look! MOONDROP's First HiFi Smartphone, MIAD01

The review needs to mention the amplifier’s output power rating for SE and balanced. Or, are we to assume our IEM/Hp sensitivities need exceed 102db?

Luxury & Precision (LP) Portable USB DAC/AMP W1 and W2 (The new W2-131 Version is Available, Related Info on Post #1)

I’m interested in knowing more about the W2’s equalization curves (not the SDF profiles). There is certainly much to find here regarding equalization, but I’m interested specifically in how the entire frequency response is affected (i.e., graphs). I’ve seen them referenced somewhere, but I’m...

Topping E70 Velvet DAC Review, Measurements and Comparisons

I’ll bet whoever “some say” is, they didn’t tell you exactly what to look for in a USB cable to improve sound quality. Personally, I choose USB cables based on length and build quality, and in the small chance it might improve the signal, shielding is not expensive…

    Shure SRH1540 Review

Mine are the 250 ohm version of the DT-770s, but relative to the 770 punchy bass and well defined mids, and without lower bass encroachment into vocals, I believe the SRH-1540 will be a disappointment. The treble for both is comparable, and while we all have our particular preferences, I find...

Senheiser IE 600 impressions and discussion.

Like I said above, I removed the cable… only the drivers in my ears… same problem. How can it be the cable? Edit : I also disagree with all monitors do this. The seal by my Senn Sports provide the same isolation with the same size ear tips, and work without any micro-acoustic problems at all...

Senheiser IE 600 impressions and discussion.

I wanted to listen my IE 600s during my exercise walks, but because of mictro-acoutic problems the music was difficult to enjoy because of every footfall. Reports blamed the stock cable, so I purchased a cable recommended by Mark Ryan. I could still hear ever footfall. Wondering if it was...

Luxury & Precision (LP) Portable USB DAC/AMP W1 and W2 (The new W2-131 Version is Available, Related Info on Post #1)

Thanks! I had one more OTG cable to try, and it worked… So far, I’ve gone thru 2 OTG cables, one of the being the lightning-to-USBC that came with my W2. Never expected…

Luxury & Precision (LP) Portable USB DAC/AMP W1 and W2 (The new W2-131 Version is Available, Related Info on Post #1)

My L&P W2 is no longer working with my iPhone or iPad, while it does work with my LG G8. Did the iOS 16.5 iOS update break all OTG cables? It was reported it only broke the Apple camera adapter(?) Anyone found a remedy? Is Apple going to fix this?

Luxury & Precision (LP) Portable USB DAC/AMP W1 and W2 (The new W2-131 Version is Available, Related Info on Post #1)

I have succeeded in updating my W2-131 to the new firmware. Whereas I normally wouldn’t have because all was fine, I did want the IE600 SDF. Primarily, I’m detecting the lift in mid-bass, and currently listening to several sources for deciding when and with what I might want to engage it. I...

    Shure SRH1540 Review

You must not have noticed that Shure described the SRH1540’s bass as “warm”, which it very definitely is…

    Shure SRH1540 Review

Personally, I’ve never seen any suggestion by Shure that the SRH1540s were to be used for studio work. They are tuned very differently from the SRH940s, which are labeled by Shure for studio work.

    Shure SRH1540 Review

To my own listening, the SRH1540s have more bass in the region 150-300Htz, and the DT-770s (250ohm) provide more extended bass in the region 20-150Htz. I would rate the Shures as warmer.

Hear ye, hear ye: Try our free hearing test app

Your app is intended for more important applications, of course, but I can also imagine in its data being an aid, together with PEQ, for matching our cans and IEMs to our own hearing(?)

Senheiser IE 600 impressions and discussion.

Couldn’t agree more … fun and engaging… Regarding ear tips… my personal experience found these very sensitive to their orientation in the inner ear. I found the Spinfit “swivel” technology mitigated that better than any other design, and good isolation as well… finally settling in with the...

Why smooth IEM & Hp frequently response measurements?

I get the impression reviewers smooth FR measurements is because the peaks and valleys are assumed to be “relatively” inaccurate, and for making the visual representation a bit easier to understand… but are the peaks and valleys really inaccurate measurements? In my field of image analysis, if...

Topping E70 Velvet DAC Review, Measurements and Comparisons

One would believe, because one’s belief that DSD sound quality versus PCM sq is purely subjective, leading to one’s library consisting of very few examples of DSD, that the absence of DSD filtering would be of absolutely no concern… but… I remember reading from a Mojo kb article that PCM is...

Topping E70 Velvet DAC Review, Measurements and Comparisons

First off, thank you for all you do for the audio community, as well as for putting your reported jitter measurements in context. I feel like a proverbial newb asking about the only archaic feature included with a state-of-the-art DAC only because “it’s there for backward compatibility”. I’m...

Topping E70 Velvet DAC Review, Measurements and Comparisons

Should we be at all concerned about the Velvet’s stand-out jitter for 16bit audio? (I mean “stand-out” in the sense that it’s almost 3x 24bit jitter—I have no idea what the jitter amplitude means, practically speaking. I usually lookfor bad jitter performance to the SPDIF inputs, as optical is...

I’m trying my best to be patient with my decision over the E70 vs E70V, and you are not making it easy. Still, I’m confident you’ll find something wrong with the “Velvet”… Edit… not easy to save my money, that is… :)

Topping E70 Velvet DAC Review, Measurements and Comparisons

Thanks for getting dirty! I’d like to believe the AK DAC will be worth the extra $100. Another reviewer is reporting a significant increase in detail/clarity for the “Velvet”, but any report of any significant difference between DACs of this calibre makes me wary. Looking forward!
