Best alternative to Bose Triports? Mine busted :(

Very few of the phones I have heard sound better than Triports. Those that do are much less comfortable, cost way more, and sound only a little better. I reccomend that you stick with Bose and just get a new pair. (Personally, I am going to try A900s to see if they combine equal comfort...

I was being perfectly civil right up until I was falsely accused of trolling. I started out merely making a suggestion within the OPs price range based on my experience. There was no reason to get jumped on for that. I also had older Triports to start with. Then I started reading about...

I have yet to hear any phones under $200 that sound better than Bose Around-Ears (and none over $200 that sound a lot better.)

What cans do you plan on buying in 2010?

I will not be buying any cans in 2010, or ever. My headphone journey has led to the conclusion that Bose Triports sound as good as anything else to me, and are way more comfortable. I have now sold all of my other phones except the GMP-8.300Ds, and I am posting those today. The Bose are...

New to Audiopohile-ing: Keep Me Under $150?

I have owned many headphones ranging up to $700, and all of them highly rated. I have now sold all but my GMP-8.300Ds (which I may also sell) and my Bose around-ears. For $120, the Bose do everything I need, and easily equal the performance of the much more expensive ones I have tried.

    How important is soundstage?

I don't care how good a pair of phones is in other areas, if they don't have a decent soundstage they won't make the grade for me. It may not be the most important characteristic IMO, but it is pretty high on the list.

    General question: Amps and impedance

How does the impedance of headphones affect the choice of amp? Would one choose a different make/model (in a given price range) for low impedance phones than for high impedance? Are tubes better with one and SS with the other?

I now know how Bose Sucks

Some Bose products (particularly their surround systems) are overpriced. The headphones, however, are most definitely not in that category. My Triports only cost $120, which is a bargain for the excellent performance they provide, as well as an entry-level price for good phones. I have heard...

    Mr. fickle makes a decision.

After constantly swapping headphones for as long as I can remember, I have finally settled on just one to listen to from here on out. The German Maestro GMP 8.300Ds are it. Not the most comfortable, but the incredible sound makes that worth tolerating. Anyone who has not heard these simply...

Back to the Bose again after a long break, and I still really like them. I just can't figure out why they get such a bad rap here, when they sound excellent to me. I may end up preferring my HD650s or GMP 8.300Ds overall in the long run, but that does not diminish the fact that the Triports...

Which Headphones make you think "Wow,i never heard that in this song before" the most times

Definitely German Maestro GMP-8.300Ds. (And far more so than any other headphones.) Too bad about the comfort, though.
