The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.

I have 9 KZs and 5 CCAs in my collection, each having their own personalities. I upgraded the stock cables along with trying countless ear tip variations to optimize the performance. Speaking of ear tips, I continually find it absolutely astounding how a simple ear tip can have such a profound...

Update on the Trios. Switched Dac/amps and Voila! Sharpness iz gone! Damn deez IEMs be good. Edit: Just double checked and the prior Dac/Amp was in high gain…Duh. I was listening to some Beyers and forgot to switch back…

The Trios showed up. Everything that has been said is true about these tarts. I can't add anything to those assessments. KZ/CCA stepped up their game with these. 4 CCAs and 10 KZs in the stash and these are demonstrably mature. The posed question, "why buy anything more expensive?, is a...

I just received the Delcis. Rockin’ them with Tangzu Tang Sencai tips. Yep, they are that good. Single DD goodness, cohesive and effortless in the way they cover the frequency range. They should really benefit/mellow more with listening time. I also just had to break down and buy the Trios...

Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

I iz still here...:):dt880smile::beerchug::ksc75smile: and some number of headphones and many IEMs/multiple listening configurations later. Curse this place!!! :L3000: and that's not counting the Audiophile home setup I had before joining Head-Fi. I actually joined when the site first...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

You need not clarify or make excuses for it. It is perfectly acceptable both in build and sound to play back tapes on the move, especially at the asking price for a new one no less. I hooked it up to my desktop system and it is fine. I'm using high-end tapes recorded on a super high end...

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

I received mine. It's a brick. Old school mechanical controls which are more reliable and gives one the impression it is well built. My stack of broken walkmans don't hold a candle to this build. Playback is clear with compelling audio. Lack of Dolby decoding is not a problem a sure sign...

    The PENON official thread

Ordered my first Penon IEM: Geek Wold GK20 along with two sets of eartips. Looking forward to them based on the solid reviews. Seems to also be a reasonable price for the configuration.

FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

I jumped on it. I have a mega large collection of mix tapes made over the last umteenth years (from the 70s onward made on high end decks in my collection) along with five broken walkmans. Super happy to have 'portable' nostalgia back in the house.

Be careful. When my wife started up on me about my audio obsession with headphones (we seem to revisit this issue every now and again), I responded with, "they are pleasing to my ears and when I'm done I can turn them off, unlike..."

I am now comparing them to the Phoenix and the Beasts are indeed 'The Beast'. They are way more intense. The Phoenix are the masters of cool. That's what I like about this hobby. As long as an IEM meets the mandatory clarity and musicality standard, the differences and nuances in...

The Pluto Beasts just snuck in the house. Celest sure puts out distinctive and good-sounding IEMs for the money. Solid bass, deep, thumping and well controlled. I don't find the lower mids infected with much of the bass - very slight - giving nice fullness for my taste. Vocals are clearly...

Just received rhe KZ Castors - bass version. How the heck can KZ make and sell an IEM that sounds this good for $16. My bass extension reference tracks are deep and clean. The mids are clear and sibilance free with vocals and instruments true. Treble doesn’t glare. If I was stranded with...

As a follow up to the Kiwi Ears Melody: after spending a few days with them exclusively, I found they are super ear tip sensitive. With the wrong tip, they are overly bass heavy as reported. With heavily processed music, they are overwhelming and lack control. I was primarily listening to...

Look what showed up in the post (upgraded to a balanced cable. The stock 3.5mm is just fine BTW but then...hey). :xf_cool: My First impressions: they are mellow and relaxing in their presentation. I don't hear anything that is over or under emphasized. I could listen to these all day long...

Update: I’m using the Cayin RU6 and the mid range is on track. I was using my desktop FIIO MK7 and it was on high gain which is right for headphones but not for efficient IEMs as the Juxears. Makes them sound ‘in the face’ forward. I also have a FIIO Q3 for portable use that also sounds good...

Just received the Juxear Clears. Right off the bat, they were super finicky to seal. They either wouldn't seal or vapor locked when they did. Enter DUNU S&S to the rescue!!! Even these required a bit of fiddling but once sealed, no further attention was required. These DUNUs are life savors...
