CALLING ALL CUSTOM IEM'S
Thanks to all who have kept this thread going. I sent my original Hearyourself.com (Alien Ears) C-3's to Alien ears for a remold for my friend as I have purchased some JH13's also being remolded at Alien Ears.AE is really backed up and I'm not getting the email or phone response I expected but...- boomy3555

Hearyourself.com custom IEM discussion thread
Custom IEMs are something that you just have to buy to try. Even universal versions floating aroung shops and meets cannot show the true sense of a custom.. JH audio reviews outshine AE's so much that even their single drivers have turned people away from AE, Apples and Oranges.- boomy3555

Hearyourself.com custom IEM discussion thread
I was one of the first to post in this thread way back in September of '08. My C-3's have been going strong this whole time. Still fit well and sound as good as the day I got them. My more recent experience with Alien Ears however, has been more "User Unfriendly" I never thought that I would...- boomy3555

Stumptown Head-Fi Meet FTW!
Looks like everybody had a Great Time. I wish I could have been there, but this weekend was the worst. Both of the other Weekend/Graveyard techs were gone so I had no one to ask to cover my Sunday shift. Lokk forward to the next one and the new store Cheers- boomy3555

Hearyourself.com custom IEM discussion thread
Harvey's has indeed raised the bar, but if you're budget minded or not wanting to take the >1 grand plunge into customs, I still love my C-3's, and the customer service value is subjective. Not everyone has has a problem with Alien Ear's C/S. Although I would Definitely CALL if I have a...- boomy3555

Denon AH-D5000 - way to tidy up a scruffy cable ? (not wanting to recable)
I have tried to dismantle the stereo plug but it is not re-usable !!!!! It you can manage to unscrew the body, The wiring is hot glued within the housing and absolutely impossible to remove. I used a pair of pliars to get it unscrewed after I gave up re-using it just to see what was inside. Too...- boomy3555

Denon AH-D5000 - way to tidy up a scruffy cable ? (not wanting to recable)
To recover the existing frayed cable with whatever you choose, will require the removal and replacement of the 6.3 plug. That's one third of a complete cable replacement as it is. Denon has made very easy to open the cans with just a srewdriver so a total cable replacement is very easy. While...- boomy3555

Denon AH-D5000 - way to tidy up a scruffy cable ? (not wanting to recable)
cable organizer .com has sizes larger of the same "Multifiliment Nylon Braided Sleaving" You would still need to cut off the 6.3 plug to put the next size up sleaving over what you have and then solder on a new plug. If I wetre going to go to all that trouble, I would recable them anyway.- boomy3555

Please help me understand how to wire my cans to speaker outs
The " Grado thing " is what you need. Also ALO audio has a headphone adapter for it's "Mini-Watt" amplifier which will do the same thing. I believe the resitor connection between the signal and ground is some sort of crossover. It is 10% of the resistance of the signal path resitor. I may bew...- boomy3555

Maybe I'm just hyper sensitive, but I feel subconcious of the right angled "Iris" connector and It's even more limiting of cable size than my old standby 4 pin Mini XLR's. Perhaps a 3.5 4 contact TRRS will be a better future option. Regardless of the chioce made, there will still be some...- boomy3555
